Forums - Sales - So Are the Sim 3....1.2 Million 1st Week Sales Impressive?

http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=3906

As we can see EA has proclaimed The Sims 3 has done a 1.2 Million opening week.

But for a 100 million + unit franchise is this good?

I mean I don't like to make comparisons, but compared to some console releases thats a tad disappoining?

Kind of low with privacy and economy these days.

Yes, it is good.

Im betting that without illegal DLs the numbers would be double that.

Its amazingly good

It's pretty good mind you but it would've been a lot more if people didn't pirate the game

I'm sure people are just waiting for reviews to come out. Testing the waters sorta speak. 1.2 mil is still a massive amount for a game.

yeah piracy did hit it I guess.

It just didn't seem "that big" to me consider The Sims is such a big franchise

I guess its a "legs" one though

Considering that it'll keep on selling well for years and years and years, I'd say it's very good. I think it'll pass 10 million, just like Sims 1 and 2. Oh, and it's 1.4 million, not 1.2

Any game that can sell a million in its first week is massive. Still, the sims is a very popular franchise so it woulve gotten more if not for the new "piracy" trend on pcs. Sales will probably pick it as this game was released in the summer.

Above I'm a proud Gran Turismo fan, not a Sony fanboy, and now a proud 360 owner, but sharing xbox live accts ATM

End of 2009 Predictions (made Jan 1, 2009): My predictions were pretty accurate, the 360 was over and the Wii was just under.

Wii: 65 mil (yea I'm crazy) 360: 35 mil (its getting there) PS3: 30 mil (the slim better do well)

End of 2010 Predictions (made Jan 7, 2010):

Wii: 81 mil  360: 47 mil PS3: 45 mil

The Sims series defines legs. The Sims was still selling reasonably well (with expansions) when Sims 2 came out.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
