PS3 will go the way of the PS3. The system that came out to a world full of hate. Nearly giving its life due to human ignorance, the system continued to fight through its early years. After the long fight against diversity was over PS3 came out a new console, and was elected presedent. Its sad story of adolecence went over big with the public, and a world full of hate, turned a full 180, and became a place of peace and love. In the end Humanity will never forget the console that turned the world around, and made it a better happier place.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Oh, come on!
I understood these threads in early 2007- PS3 was failing
I understood these threads in holiday 2008- 360 was owning PS3
So, when the weekly difference is rarely above 10k units, WHAT IS THE NEED to make this thread for the 5 billionth time?!
Are we going to go through cycles and have these every six months? Even if the PS3 starts outselling the 360? Or will we then replace "Sony" with "Microsoft" and "PS3" with "360", and post the same thread? We've suffered this for nearly a year, it's your turn!
/rant.
EDIT: By the way, the 360 avatar is not a good idea when making this type of thread. Or at all, really.

Also, it will cure cancer, create chocolate that tastes good and is healthy, and turn rain into doughnuts.

PS3 will not be discontinued unless sales go down by a decent margin. I do not foresee that happening. What could happen though, is the lack of momentum of the ps4 continues into the ps4 like the downward trend of the n64 went to the gamecube. If this happened, and Sony continued its hardware at a loss software as a gain philosophy the PS brand may go away (something Nintendo avoids due to always having profitable hardware). Since the PS do not have any first party names that quite reach the magnitude of Mario this would be difficult is sales dropped to Gamecube.
So basically, they have to not only keep screwing up this gen (which I thought they were getting away from, but the psp go has convinced me they may not have learned the lesson) but keep the downward momentum. This is unlikely but not impossible.

it might simply force to extend the life of the ps3 to reach the profitability margins they had hoped for...
