Well MS can't win'um all via gaming websites.

Figures you'd post something like that.
Whatever, ontopic, good article.
Good Article indeed.
Sony Won this one, hands down and anyone who thinks otherwise.......well, I beg to differ. Sony had it all going for them during their conference.
Zen says its either "360 won or Sony won" from general consensus because I am assuming he feels PS3 didn't have a great showing. I definitely disagree. PS3 alone could have won this E3 with more bigger name titles on display then the other systems. GOWIII, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2(best showing of E3 mind you), Ratchet and Clank, Demon's Soul, Agent, FFXIV, MAG, White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian, etc. Some pretty creative new games were showed:Mod Nation Racing for one. AND Sony revealed a motion sensing controller to be functioned with the PSEye. The PSEye demonstration, while not the most flashy, definitely got more across as far as functionality goes. Sony also had a healthy helping of MP games, now including Lost Planet2 which Jack Tretton obviously enjoyed revealing would be coming to PS3.
This information alone trumped MS's and Nintendo's. All the PSP announcements were just added bonus for Sony.

That stab at Nintendo at the end makes him come across as completely ignorant. My guess is he didn't even watch Nintendo's conference because they announced and showed a good number of games.
I do agree with the rest of the article about how the focus should be on software, and the PS3 clearly beats 360 in the near future (IMO).

Yep, I have to agree. I hit the boards right after Sony's press conference and said this thing was a piece of shit. Even went as far to give it a 4/10. However, after all the buzz died down, and I looked at what had been shown minus the flash factor, it became obvious Sony won in the end.
The biggest things MS showed were 1080p movies off Live/Netflix, movie sharing, Splinter Cell, Forza, Halo's, Alan Wake, and NATAL. At first that seemed huge, and I was like man Sony has to respond big time tommorow. At first glance it seemed like Sony bombed, but if you get rid of the great hype Microsoft created, and look at the reality of the matter, this is what you see.
Sony has had 1080p movies with 7.1 surrond sound since day one. Microsoft said movie sharing was coming, so did Sony a year ago. Uncharted stomped all over everything Microsoft showed. MAG set a standard for online multiplayer for consoles. Gran Turismo 5 added NASCAR, and WRC, plus damage. FFXIV as a console exclusive. Rockstar North making a PS3 exclusive. Motion controls will come next spring. God of War 3 hitting March of 2010. The Last Gaurdian is real, and along with GoW3, and GT5 it will be native 1080p.
The above is only a fraction of what Sony showed on stage, and that is yet another fraction of what they showed on the show floor and behind closed doors. To push things even further, Sony has already had the EYE on the market for over a year. When looking back on even the inferior Eye Toy for PS2, Sony has showen many of the things Microsoft showed in video form in real time presentations. Face tracking, full body tracking, and voice comand are all things Sony London has been doing since the PS2, and I stress, on PS2 hardware. We all know the PS3 is many times more powerful than the PS2, and arguably the most powerful console on the market. What people may not know is the Eye Toy was a 2D tracking camera with a 30fps refreash rate. The PS EYE however, has full 3D motion tracking, and refreashes at a blistering 120fps.
So in the end Sony won, and they won by a mile. I didn't even go into PSP, and how it and PS3 are closer than ever. Microsoft did not have a bad E3 at all, they just did not show as much as Sony did. Microsoft won the press conference hype award, and I give them all the credit in the world for that. I honestly came away thinking, 360 is becoming one amazing machine, and even doubting my favortism towards Sony. For non informed consumers Microsoft has done a great job showing why 360 is the only console you need in your home. Out of everyone Nintendo yet again blew up. Mario Galaxy is my least favorite Mario, even surpasing the nearly equaly bad Sunshine, and they are making a sequal to it? They rehashed The Conduit, Dead Space, Wii Sports Resort, and showed tons of games that have been out for months in Japan. They announced nothing about WiiWare, DSiWare, or virtual console. The only thing that came out of the conference that was even news worthy was Metriod other M. In my eyes, Nintendo has gone from failing the gamer, to failing the casual. It may not be enough to stop the momentum, but it has sure drained any remaining wind out of my sales. It is to the point were I can't even take them serious as a software house anymore.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. 1. The link isn't to Joystiq - its to a Sony gaming site. Am I missing something?
2. It is legitimate to say Sony "won". It is not legitimate for a supposedly professional gaming site to come to that conclusion completely while ignoring the goods delivered (or not) by the company that a) is kicking Sony's ass in the home console market, b) is kicking Sony's ass in the hand held market, and c) Sony is desperately trying to copy with its glowing sex toys.
I don't see this article on Joystiq though... but I do see it on PSXEXTREME

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
it was clearly sony as they showed the most content, including a full on new exclusive from r*

A. Bringing my post history into this is getting a little personal isn't it? Why don't we stick to the argument at hand. B. NOBODY ever said the PS3 won. It's either "The 360 won" or "Sony won" Without the PSP stuff, the Sony conference was relatively shallow. Anymore questions? I was fair minded in my posts on this thread. I don't understand why you took offense. My two points are absolutely correct. Read the article. |
A. Your post history is pretty telling, but fair enough.
B. (A.) That would be because Microsoft only has one console, while Sony has two (three, actually). If there was a Microsoft portable, it would be "Sony won" or "Microsoft won". And I've never heard anyone saying "the 360 won" either- it's always done by company. I don't remember a PS3 or 360 conference, they were Sony and Microsoft. It's perfectly fair to count the PSP as part of Sony's showing, considering how much Sony have linked it with the PS3.
B. (B.) They were shown, just not in the conference.
