Ok. Firstly, stop referring to PSMote as "Dildo", it is not clever. Do you know what a dildo looks like? You should, because it looks exactly like whats in between your legs. Unless you have some kind of ET penis thing going on, it does not look like the PSMote. The resemblance is stretched at best and more then mildly juvenile.
Second, observe...
Early demonstrations of what the accessory is capable of.
This vid in particular proves facial recognition as well as being able to read 3d space. See how the hair forms around the head realistically. Also the facial tatoos bend and form with the contours of the face. This one also gives some footage of the eyetoy clothing a person in real time.
I am proving that the Natal on the Sony PSEye do the same exact thing...

and if you watch the first E309 demonstration vid at around 4:40, you will hear them state WHY they need actual holding devices to bring the full experience.

You and I have different opions of what facial recognition is. for instance nothing there again shows me the PSEYE recognising someones individual face. EG walk into a room with Natal and it will sign you in to your profile without you even talking. So it can rcognise your own personal fetures. Not adding objects to an image of your face on the screen, but actuall recognising a person. I need to see proof of this. To me Facial recognition is Milo knowing when your surprised, nervous, happy, sad, disgruntled etc. All by your facial expression alone. This is different than sitting in front of the camera and adding hair or tatooes to the ontours of the image of your face.
Your right their are many things the PSEYE did long before Natal. But Natal seems to be a much more intuitve form of 3d motion, facial recogniton and voice recognotion. Eurogamer told Milo a joke, and he responded with a slight muffled giggle. The joke was a bad joke. Notice he didnt laugh out loud as if it was an extremely funny joke.
From the genuine celebrity footage of them playing Natal, it's clear to me just how much fun it is without any controller in your hands. By what they have said the immersion is 2nd to none. You cant fake disbelief and fun on their face like that.
EDIT: Sorry about the dildo thing. The internet all over is basically using this term I guess it rubbed off. ;)
Guys you are just talking about what Natal and the PS-controller can do but not what games you can play with them.
Please tell me what games you guys want to play on them? I'm looking forward to what you guys call "casual" games on Natal because, well: that's exactly what you are going to get. What are you looking forward for?
Edit: I mean really - you will get exactly those games on Natal that you all were hating so much on Nintendo's system. Exactly this type of games. And face recognition won't help a lot as you just can't use it in a lot of games. It's great but what is it good for? It's like saying "my controller can change temperature!" ....well amazing but rather useless don't you think? All you are going to play with Natal is casual games.
Neither waggle controller from MS or Sony is really new or exciting for me. I'm still not looking forward to the shit storm of casual games. Yet their is possibility for some hardcore gamer applications to this.
I imagine the PSMote will be finalized as the break-apart controller they patented. That would be cool. I see playing an Action RPG like Oblivion. While running on the field the controller is together. Once you see an enemy you break it apart to get into stance for battle. Every stance you make is mimicked on the screen. Or maybe using the "bow and arrow" thing as showed at E3 to snipe some baddies off a building.
If implemented that way, it could be cool.

thx1139 said: If PSEye could do everything that Natal does why did Sony come up with there own WiiMote like control?
You do realize that their motion sensing is not with the "PSMote?" alone, right. It uses the Eyetoy/PSEye for tracking in 3d space. When playing a gun game I would really like to see how the Natal deals with the player having to pull the trigger. It would just feel silly(more so then usual) to just be holding your hand out with your finger pulling at thin air.
The first thing I realized is that MS's Natal demonstrations, none of the demos dealt with holding objects. What if someone made a magician game(Harry Potter) with a wand or whatever. I suspect it cannot deal with complex item manipulation from what I have seen. The PSWaggle thingy has proven it can in a very in depth way.
Your grasping at straws. The point of MS demonstration was to show no controller or objects necessary. That doesnt mean you cant use them. Since the Natal can handle facial recognition it certainly will be able to tell you are holding something in your hand. As for a trigger it has been fully discussed here that a simple controller with a couple of buttons could certainly be used to augment the object less control of the Natal.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
Who is going to want to buy the camera then another extra... just because nintendo got away with this doesnt mean MS can. Nintendo for one started it from the begining. MS will have at least 40 million 360s sold by the time NATAL comes out.

This. How will they implement motion controls in their first party projects? This is another story.
