Forums - Sales - PSP GO is a MISTAKE! (have SONY not learnt anything)!!

Let it come out before you call it a mistake.

I think they are trying to increase their profit margins. That's why its so high in price. I think their thought of mind right now is "We might not sell a lot at this price but we will make decent money on each one sold" I wouldn't be surprised if price came down after the holidays. Think about it. Their busiest time of year selling at a high profit.

I think DD is trying to get rid of pirating. Which may work, but pirating is a big issue with the psp. I don't blame them for trying to control the issue. Though it may bite them.

MGS: PW may not be a system sell but what about this.

MGS: PW, RE PSP, LBP PSP, Motorstorm PSP, Gran Turismo PSP and HANNAH FUCKING MONTANNA LILAC PSP!!!!

I know I'm forgeting some too.

I think Sony said they asked the developers how to in prove. Which I'm sure the devs said "Take car of that pirating problem ARrrrrr(yes like a pirate)!

@mrstickball

well their PS3 direction for me negates all the PSP mistakes done with GO!

And the PS2 and PS1 for me negates all the mistakes of their PS3 and PSP Go direction :P

OT: I don't know about this new go stuff, but I've had a massive amount of fun with homebrew on my modded PSP. Sony (begrudgingly) made one of the greatest homebrew devices ever, right behind the Dreamcast, and because of it the PSP is amazing. So, as far as the PSP Go is concerned...as long as they leave the normal PSP out, I don't care what they do with it.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

@JEDE

its not only that its their attitude.

The way KAS said without any shame (its not his fault though he didn't decide the price)

"Guys we'r gonna launch the PSP GO! at the price we launched PSP 4 years ago"

Wow well done kas....thats a bargain! (lol)

I guess the difference between the PS3 and PSP-Go from a marketing/tactic prospective is that the PSP-3000 is still on sale and supported. The PSP-Go wouldn't have cost Sony anywhere near as much to develop as the PS3, so even it sells a few million, I would think it would make up the development costs once software sales are factored in. In all honesty I think the PSP-Go is simply an elaborate experiment into whether the public are willing to have a download only device. Plus compare it to the ipod touch, which certainly has no trouble selling, and the PSP-Go is quite reasonable value.

Another way of seeing it is as a lesson learnt from Microsoft. Microsoft has shown multiple SKU's at different price levels works for consoles, and Nintendo are showing the same with DS/DSi. Sony won't lose any PSP sales over the price of PSP-Go, as the PSP-3000 is still the same price. So they have nothing to lose, money to gain. Simple.

Poor Kaz. Sony only uses him when they want to announce something pricy! XD

PSP sold over 50 million. That is success to me and the PSP Go will add on more to it.

I say the Natal is a way more bigger mistake by MS to me.

I honestly think they are trying to go after the Japanese market with this and the tech geek market in NA/EU.
