Forums - Gaming - E3: So, who do you really think had the best conference?

On personal taste I found it to be Sony, followed by MS then Nintendo with almost nothing to separate them.

The Last Guardian and Uncharted 2 were for me far and away the best titles shown hence my personal preference. While it was super professional and Natal was interesting there was not one surprise nor great new title announced for MS from my point of view. Nintendo announced a lot of new titles but few appealed to me (I'm not a big Nintendo gamer, Mario fan coming from PC roots).

All 3 were professional and good though, so overall I think it was near enough a tie if you remove personal preference.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Ubisoft. big 3 only, Nintendo. can't be unbiased, sorry.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

I think the real winner was ... ME!!! I own all 3 consoles (and both handhelds) and I thought all 3 conferences had their share of great info, games and demos. This makes me happy for my future gaming possibilities (and less so for my wallet).

Nintendo was great because of the 2D Mario, Galaxy 2 and Metroid which were all good surprises and Miyamoto at least talked about a new Zelda. Speaking of the new Zelda, WM+ is not far off and this I am very curious about (if I have swordfight with Link using this new tech, the game will be LEGEN... wait for it....DARY!!). And DS just keeps racking up the excellent games, keep em coming!

Sony had less surprises (imo) but just amazing quality of games and for once, quantity = quality as all the games they showed will probably be excellent. I am especially excited for GOW 3, Trico (or Last Guardian as it semmes to be called) and GT5 (though the trailer did nothing for me). Only issue I had with PS3 was the lack of dates for these beauties (except GOW3 but also for all of the games they showed practically, when Sony, when???). PSP Go is butt ugly but I don't care and gotta get me GT on it as well as that Resident Evil.

MS did their usual thing of "stealing" something from Sony. All good cause that MGS could be good. A new Halo is ok too. Forza looks great. Natal looks promissing but for when? Thinking now, I do feel like MS' conference might have me the least excietd of the 3 now.

How could you not be happy as a wealthy gamer after conferences such as these?

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

I think MS won it by a large margin because of Project Natal, Milo, MGS, Left 4 Dead 2, Facebook / Twitter, and the Netflix improvements. They also announced actual firm release dates for many titles we already knew about like H3: ODST, Forza 3 (which looked amazing), L4D2. They also showed some stuff for not so distant future like Alan Wake and Halo Reach.

Sony also had a great show especially when it comes to the PSP. Even though I do not like Sony consoles I was very impressed with their lineups for both PS3 and PSP. In fact I liked what they showed for the PSP so much that I am seriously considering trading in my DS and all my games for a PSP 3000. On the PS3 side they showed footage again of a game called Last Guardian and it is absolutely stunning. Sony would have gotten higher marks had it not been for the leaks, and by the way PSP Go is pretty cool but Waaay over priced, At most should cost same price as DSI.

Nintendo wasn't even in the same ballpark as Sony or Microsoft. Their conference was a complete snoozer and turned into an utter embarrassment with the Vitality monitor. They saved it from utter chaos during the last 10 minutes. Dead Space caught my interest as did Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid M, but both of them looked to be at least a full year from release. They showed Conduit and it will be out this fall but it is a lesser game against ODST, L4D2, Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Uncharted 2, and other shooters. The Resident Evil game just looked average at best, another real disappointment. And it is now official the DS is now lame as it is now a handheld aimed primarily at little girls.

Final Fantasy XIV was announced? For who? Oh....Sony won the conference then.

^ Wow, that was pretty anti Nintendo... You are entitled to your opinion of course, though the DS remark was just plain trollish.

Regarding The Conduit, it isn't out this fall but rather in 3 weeks.

As far as new announcements of exclusives, I think Nintendo clearly won. A lot of MS's announcements were PC/360 games which are not exclusives, and Sony managed to only show one new exclusive for 2010, and none for 2009. In terms of unexpected exclusives, Microsoft showed Crackdown 2 and Halo Reach, two first-party shooters...

Sony's problem was that their biggest announcements were all leaked or obvious.

I have to say, neither Crackdown 2 or Halo Reach were surprises at all

As for Sony's new games, were Mod Nation Racers or FF XIV predicatable? I know the Last Guardian and Agent were (though nice to have it finally announced), but there was a rumour about SMG 2 before the conference, though I don't know about rumours of Metroid Prime or Super Mario Brothers

True, Mod Nation Racers was not predictable, but frankly it's a Mario Kart clone which doesn't give much points to Sony... I certainly didn't see anyone excited about it at the Sony E3 thread.

FF XIV was not predictable so it definitely counts, that's what I meant by "one new exclusive for 2010". And again, I didn't see much excitement for it after the word "Online" popped up.

Did Sony or Microsoft have any newly announced exclusive that got people as excited as Nintendo's announcements? It didn't seem to me that they did...

It is not really a Mario Kart clone, the emphasis is on creation, and anyway, you can't play Mario Kart on the PS3 can you?

Yeah, I think everyone had the same reaction. Incredible excitment when it first came up on screen (though I thought they might have just made Versus into XIV), and then crushing disappointment at the end, but it was a huge surprise

They did not really on the whole, other than Natal in some cases, ignoring the ones that we already pretty much knew about it

Exclusive to a consoles is still Exclusive. One reason is because there are two completely different markets of gamers. PC gamers primarily only play on PC and could care less about any console, just as most console gamers don't care about hardcore PC games. Sure there are exceptions to the rule but this is true at least 90 % of the time.

Didn't mean to sound trollish on the DS comment, I have had a DS since launch in 2004 and it could be such an exceptional platform, but why do they seem to only want to market it for young little kids.

either ms or nintendo

sony just had stuff that we all knew about, ms and ninty had surprises

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.
