Why isn't he banned yet and "The Xbox Man" or whatever is? Both are stupid trolle we need to get rid of.

Actually Uncharted's 2.34 million lifetime sales is nothing to scoff at.
2.19 million for Little Big Planet isn't exactly little either. (Not to mention all the DLC sold)

Had those "AAA" games underperformed under 500k that would have been pretty poor sales. A million seller is still very good. The bar can't be set by Halo 3. Hardly any game can compare to Halo 3's insanely high sales of 9.61 million. Only Grand Theft Auto (7.04 Xbox, 5.61 PS3; combined total 12.65) , Call of Duty 4 (7.34 Xbox, 4.27 PS3; combined total 11.61), and top Nintendo games come close; Smash Bros Brawl (8.41), Mario Galaxy (7.92). While Wii Fit (19.24) & Mario Kart Wii (15.74) standalone surpass it. EPIC sales for all those games.

But what really matters is are those games successful within their budgets? In this case Uncharted 2 and Little Big Planet are definite successes.

Now Killzone 2 at 1.6 million does seem a little low for all the hype and development time that game had. But remember it has only been out for 3 months). Now I'm not sure of the exact budget for Killzone 2, so even at 1.6 million sold Guerilla Games could be still taking a loss on profit. But not one that GG can't continue to make up. With continued support through DLC and a sequel which is no doubt greenlit. It can use the same engine, physics, character/environment/weapon assets, etc; so it will be much cheaper to develop & make money on "Killzone 3" and "Killzone 4". Plus with an even more PS3 hardware out there and growing fan base I think Killzone 2 could eventually match current MGS4 sales numbers (4.00 million sold).

The greatest sales comeback in history of console sales wars is when Nintendo released Wii after Gamecube.



MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Ehm no.

  1. Uncharted² using the sam engine like Uncharted, both had a 20 million USD budget (Same for Gears/2)
  2. There is no way Killzone will make it up to 4 million, since this one seems to have no legs at all. It sold 58k in US last month according to NPD and let's say 65k in Europe (both markets have similar sales). Thats 123k for one month. So it needs 2.4 million to get to MGS-level. So it needs 19.5 months to get there. Of course sales will decrease and not be on the level they are right now. 2.5 million is possible if you ask me.

With Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the horizon expect KillZone 2 sales to be from bundles...

That title belongs to other consoles already like the Super Nintendo which battled back against nearly 10 million down against the Sega Genesis.  The PS2 and GC also battled near 10 million decifits to overcome a generational rival - the Dreamcast.

 

If PS3 were to overcome the X360, it would rank 4th best comeback.

I agree relative to their budgets those games will probably turn a profit, with perhaps the exception of Killzone 2. 

The point though is none of those games have really caused the PS3 hardware to spike or been able to skyrocket the machine to success. So what is the point of all that "look at teh list of all this awesome PS3 software! Sales will boom!" ... we've heard this now for 2+ years. 

Wait till ... LittleBigPlanet, it will be the break out hit for the PS3. Wait till ... Killzone 2, it will be the break out hit for PS3. Wait till .... Grand Theft Auto IV ... the GTA audience is Playstation loyal. Resistance 2 will match Gears of War 2, etc. etc. etc. etc. 

In several cases, PS3 sales actually have declined year-over-year when they've released some of these supposed "killer apps". 

Killzone 2 is not matching 4 million sold ... the game is dropping like a rock.
