On Billboard.com?  Sure.  On VGChartz that has no interest whatsoever in the music industry?  No.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

@MomtanaHatchet

well said, that's pretty much how I feel.

i completely agree with starcraft and ppl who at all admitting to contributing to piracy should be banned and maybe they wont talk about it then. i dont think its going to far, because i feel u cant go far enough to get it through these cheaters head that what their doing to hurting the industry very badly and i feel punishing them sometimes very harshly is the only to make them listen.

Piracy has no place on this site for many reasons the main one is that it is totaly against the main point of this site.

Very good topic starcraft.

That's not really fair. What they do is none of our business.

Then except a half doezn PSP owners apart, everyone should be banned? :| I doubt its a good idea, hey even Nazna modded his PSP to be able to play SNES games on the go, and Im not seeing why that should be a reason, especially bc he owns those games.

Pirates... maybe, moders no way IMO :| Hell I love modding my consoles to and I never steal a single game ;)

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

Look I get the whole ban piracy thing. But where does one draws the line. I mean yea I feel that if you post describing how to pirate or how to buy pirate materials, then the post should be closed and the poster should be reprimanded. If they do it again, stricter actions should be taken. But, knowing what this OP is stemming from, to talk about the possibility of or even admitting to have done it should not be a ban offense. It a topic, more or less, like any other topic out there. It a practice that some do and it is illegal but it does happen. So are we suppose to pretend it doesn't exist and it become a bad word? If so, should we never bring up a PC game again because we all know that market suffering from it. So is the DS and PSP. It just becomes a touchy subject that you are asking the mods and owners to deal with.

And the for the record, I don't pirate games or music. But I do buy them used. And I do it mostly to purposely not give my money to a developer/corporation I don't deem worthy. As this topic was born of the guise of not supporting those people and it ruins the industry, should I be ban for that?? It perfectly legal and I have broken no laws. But because I practice something that is not view appropriate by a set of people that are not in charge, should I ban for it? Does that we should the site stop posting Gamestop news or any retail company that practice it now? There goes Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy. More stuff to ponder...

I'm just saying...

Guys so you know, discussing how/where/etc.. to pirate is already a bannable offense. We just don't ban people for talking about it generically. I honestly doubt it will be changed either, but if you're serious about it you can talk to Naznatips as he is the man to go to on the issue of rules changes.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Any sort of media piracy/downloading is perfectly legal and within the law. It is NOT illegal to download and play a videogame ROM.

It is only illegal to distribute those ROMs.

"Warning: The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000."
