Thats a personal issue. I've never seen a person who bases his opinion of  a game off its first hour or so, and can't develop a new brighter opinion of it after giving it chance. It makes me shiver to think how many excellent games we would miss if we all had your mindset.

Seriously?

What do you think demos are for? A demo is usually around 1 hour long, and often gives you a pretty good idea of if you'll like the game or not.

How many games that are boring for the first two hours and then develop into splendid and fun games have you played, anyway? A really good game gets you hooked in the first couple of seconds. Sometimes even before you start the game (Command & Conquer did that, for instance).

And for that matter, where do you draw the line? 2 hours of boredom? Or 4 hours of boredom? Or 10 hours of boredom? How much boredom must I suffer to be sure that the next hour won't be gold?

No demo is ever an hour long. inFamous is one of the longest ones I've played, and it's 30-40 minutes. Most are around 15 minutes.

Games that are boring for the first two hours?

-Oblivion

-LittleBigPlanet

-Call of Duty 4

I was annoyed by all of those after two hours of play (well, not Oblivion, but I was getting bored of it), then I ended up loving all three of them.

Besides, a demo is intended to tell you if you'll like a game or not. It is often missing features of the game, does not give a large sample of the gameplay, and is basically a stripped down version of the first couple of levels.

I played the demo and much of what he said felt exactly like the demo. The switching from hero to infamous by taking a mission. Killing people having no affect on moral status. The fact that at that point powers are limited. It is a demo. I played through the demo twice was enjoying going around a exploring a bit when I could. If I"d die though it would force me to start the next mission. People here are entitled to wonder if the guy actually rented the game when it's not even supposed to be out yet. Had the thread been played the infamous demo today I don't think anyone would have a problem, but for him to say he rented it when what he describes is the demo bothers me. Something really funny is how some people attack the people that attacked him when most of us just felt that he didn't rent the game by what he described. I played the demo so I know what it is and I"m sure many others here did as well so we did play the game or at least as much as he described.

Why is everybody so retaliatory and angry? A game is an aesthetic experience; everyone's impressions will be unique. He is not saying INFAMOUS IS BAD DO NOT BUY he's just saying that, from his experience, it fell short in a few areas. Which is completely fair and believable.

I do not understand people who blindly defend games as if they are their first born child, particularly when they are games they have not yet played. So for whatever reason you're blindly devoted to Sony, and for whatever reason this means that you extend your blind zeal to all the over-hyped games coming out for the PS3. Still no reason to attack a guy for being underwhelmed by a game that, in all likelihood, would be an underwhelming experience for many gamers out there.

Games with Meta scores of 40 can be a blast for some people, while other gamers will never, ever find anything fun about the 98-averaging GTA 4.

You guys need to stop judging a games quality by how good you want it to be, but by simply by how much you enjoy it. Allow yourself to be disappointed by a hyped up title every once and a while. It's really not that excruciating. There's more to life than overhyped titles fulfilling their overbuilt promise.

I hate people who cant comprehend the simplest of things. IE why people would question the validity of this thread.... nope it must be because everyone is pissed off because its a ps3 exclusive.

i also hate the people who think every ps3 exclusive is hyped

the game isn't even suppose to be out yet.......

I find this hard to believe

You have got to be kidding...................

The reason why so many people are on him is because he claimed to have rented the game (It's not even out yet BTW), and he complains about it after playing it for two hours. And I'm pretty sure he was playing the demo. If so, you really shouldn't do a review off of a demo, mainly because most demos of awesome games usually suck (Valkria Chronicles) and most demos are usually 10-15 minutes. I'd rather listen to someone who played the game for more than 10 hours than listen to someone who probably played the demo for only 2

BTW, I love how in your 2nd paragraph you say we are all devoted to Sony and inFAMOUS is over-hyped because it's a PS3 exclusive

Favorite films. Foreign films forever!

this could easily be discovered if someone just checks his trophy page

^ i dont have him on my psn. and eventhen thats just on complaint. mine is he admits completly rushing through the game. how is that fun especially for a sandbox game

once again...this is a SONY defense force thing....he reviewed and scored a game, based off of 2 hours of gameplay...if he had finished or got at least half way and felt this way it would be fine...but you cant judge a 30 hour game of of the 2, that is not an acurate review.

Yeah, you do realize this is a Sony thread, right? I'd say the same thing for Nintendo/Microsoft if this was some Wii or 360 exclusive. I hate fanboyism, I hate hyping, and I hate blind retaliatory anger, all of which were on prominent display in this thread. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt; why would he lie? If he is, whatever; no reason to explode with anger. He didn't make any claims that were all that incendiary.

Look: not everone's gonna love every great game. Maybe it's too hyped, maybe it's not, but some people aren't going to give a damn about inFamous. Even he's lying, why should you all care so much? It's just one persons (potentially fabricated) opinions; they mean nothing.
