Sony is facing another lawsuit over the force feedback technology in its Dual Shock controller

The lawsuit concerns engineer and patent holder Craig Thorner, who claims he was tricked into signing away his force feedback patent rights for a fraction of their worth by lawyers representing Sony and peripheral manufacturer Performance Designed Products (PDP).

Apparently Sony used Thorner's patents in the court battle against Immersion, which saw Sony paying out USD 90 million in damages over unpaid royalties concerning the use of rumble technology in the Dual Shock controller.

“Thorner claims that Sony and PDP were working together to get a favourable deal for his patents”

Thorner claims that Sony and PDP were working together to get a favourable deal for his patents, and is suing Sony for patent infringement.

Is he sueing them twice... for the same thing?

Wow... Americans are so f*cking stupid
Why do they just sue people for what ever the hell they want?

I like how it is up here in Canada, people sue for BIG things not little things like that case in US were the guy sued a dress shop for 78 million dollars because they lost his $60 pants. F*cking ridiculous... Hopefully Canada wont ever turn out like them

I don't quite understand.

Sony used this guys patents when Immersion sued them?

Sony lost that lawsuit yes?

Sony paid lots of money....

Now Thorner, seeing that the lawsuit was worth that much, is now suing Sony because he sold his patents (thorugh PDP?) to Sony for too little money?

----

Have I got that right? if so it doesn't sound like a worthy lawsuit unless there is some proof that trickery was involved when Sony paid for the patents.

hope he wins. :)
