Oh, easily Valkria Chronicles. It should have sold well over a million on the Japanese game friendly PS3. SO did well considering Xbox 360 is an American Console that has a mostly shooter fan base. BUt VC on the PS 3 with a 3 million base in Japan should have done much much better.

I don't believe any SRPG that doesn't have the name 'Final Fantasy' in it has ever even come close to one million.

Star Ocean 4, on the other hand, is doing relatively poorly compared to its predecessors.

Relatively poorly? terribly.

VGC sales put NA at 740k. 190K higher than freakin Japan. (that's for SO3 )

 

I was trying to be nice. You're right, it is pretty terrible - in both sales.

Off-topic: I'm about five hours into disc two now... it's incredibly underwhelming.

Since when did a Strategy Role playing game, sell a million copies on a console?

It was Final Fantasy Tactics. 12 years ago on the original Playstation.

So yeah, it's been a while.

FF XII: RW hit a million.

I have two ways to circumvent that.

1. He said console, not handheld.

2. Revenant Wings is an RTS.

Yes, Star Ocean is a complete failure if its being outsold each week by a game that has been out 5 months longer.

Star Ocean 4 is being released in EU on 6th June, and personally, I am waiting for the inevitable PS3 version. Star Ocean won't make big splash in others, jRPGs rarely do, only Final Fantasy (and KH to some extent) sell well here, which is a pity, as it means we generally have to wait longer for our games
