Star Ocean has been on the market for about 5 months less than VC. This is a testament of the atomic failure of that game.

Which game are you calling a fail?

SO or VC?

Oh, easily Valkria Chronicles. It should have sold well over a million on the Japanese game friendly PS3. SO did well considering Xbox 360 is an American Console that has a mostly shooter fan base. BUt VC on the PS 3 with a 3 million base in Japan should have done much much better.

1. The discussion is American sales... not Japanese.

2. VC is a new IP and SO is an established IP

3. VC is an SRPG (dosent necessarily sell well)

This.

Star Ocean: Til the End of Time only shipped 90k in its lifetime.

So expect similar or worse EU sales from SO4.

And SO4's sales are terrible, even compared to Valkyria Chronicles.

@ gameman

Your ignorance is appaling. Valkyria Chronicles is the #1 selling SRPG this generation in Japan and it has a chance in North America as well.

Since when did a Strategy Role playing game, sell a million copies on a console?

It was Final Fantasy Tactics. 12 years ago on the original Playstation.

So yeah, it's been a while.

I don't believe any SRPG that doesn't have the name 'Final Fantasy' in it has ever even come close to one million.

Star Ocean 4, on the other hand, is doing relatively poorly compared to its predecessors.

Edit: outlawauron has beaten me to it

just adopt my style of thinking. I always expect a game to sell 5 copies. Anything above is always a success in my book :)

Haha, then my copy is quite the rare one. No wonder I had a hard bidding war over it!

Europe is a terrible place to sell your JRPG's, guys.

i still remember people calling it a flop, times change ehh... if someone would have told that VC is outselling SO4, i would laugh and if it also be in top 10 in u.s. for ps3 i would call him crazyman.

Relatively poorly? terribly.

VGC sales put NA at 740k. 190K higher than freakin Japan. (that's for SO3 )
