lol you honestly believe Sega won't be putting out more core games for the Wii? You're out of your mind. Their next upcoming game as publisher for Wii is Conduit.

"Q: You product is more adult-orientated, so you must be watching a company like Sega who are trying mature titles like House of the Dead and Mad World on the Wii. Do you see a market for product like that on the Wii?

Sean Brennan: House of the Dead is great brand and the product is great too. I think it’s difficult, I’ve got consoles at home but I wouldn’t sit and play an 18-rated game with my family on the Wii. Is there space in the Wii market for that? I think there is, but again, it’ all about finding out how big that is. Is it 5 per cent? If it’s five per cent of the market and you can own that space it’s worth doing because you can achieve volume. If you can’t own it at five per cent, it’s not worth doing, quite frankly. We are going to make an announcement on a really big Wii game this year, we’ve got a couple of other things in the pipeline, and it’s a format we’re really looking at with the right approach. We’re not going to establish a new range and call if ‘My Girly Game Range’ or whatever these other companies are doing, it’s so me-too and boring."

So yes it's a mature game and not some minigame collection.

What does Saga have after Conduit? Also they are not taking too big a risk with that game, cause all they are doing is publishing it. I think since the last two Sega games did pretty poorly on the Wii, we will see nothing but sonic games from them for a long time.

As for the Bethesda comment, 5% of Wii owners is 2.5 million, I don't think whatever game they make will get that close unless it involves Legos or a plastic guitar. They will probably have to settle with .5% of the market instead. Don't get me wrong, i'm glad developers are taking this risk, but ultimatly it will end in disappointing sales, just like every "core game" on the Wii.

But what about Call of Duty? Its sad when one of the top best selling games series of all time struggles to sell a million on the wii. I don't think Halo or GTA could have done any better.

I thought Factor 5 closed... maybe that was someone else

Anyway, the sell decently, but not as well on PS360. Look at WaW. Yes well done Wii you will sell 1m (I haven't been following its sales), but look at that the PS3 version selling over 3m despite having 1/2 the user base... Most of these are just spin-offs, like the Dead Space on rails shooter

What? You realize that the publishers are the people who loan the development studios money to make the games.

Dead Space on Wii?

So, how many of those games are (or are predicted to be) million sellers?

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

They're obviously (very) late to the Wii train and are desperately trying to create a "hardcore" 3rd party scene on Wii. It's their fault most "hardcore" 3rd party software didn't sell as much as they'd like.

There s A LOT of hardcore game which sold quite well on Wii :

Guitar Hero / Rock Band
RE 4 / RE UC
Star Wars Games
Shaun White PSk
Red Steel
No More Heroes (Best Suda51 selling game so far...)
Fatal Frame 4 in Japan (Best selling FF in Japan so far...)
House of The Dead etc etc

Also, you forgot to mention :
Tales Of Wii
No More Heroes 2
The 2nd High Voltage Game
Tatsunoko vs Capcom
etc.

So all those games, they are releasing because there'a a market of gamers on Wii who like these type of game : sometimes it's a niche market for niche games (Madworld for a clover game, fatal frame, juuoo, murasama...) sometimes it's BIG BUDGET games : Monster Hunter 3 and Spyborgs were stated by Capcom as their biggest investments with Dark Void. IMO, Red Steel 2 also in this category for example or Tales of Wii.

In short, if potential sales > Production cost = Games.

That's it.

we see new core games(there's no such thing as hardcore game cause game cannot be devoted to itself) cause core games are selling very good which means there's a market for them(new NFS game is core title on the wii no matter what people say).

and yes core games are selling on the wii - wii games don't need to sell in millions to bring developer/publisher profit - most of wii projects have less than 8mln$ as a whole budget for the game development and advertisment. the biggest wii projects had 13mln$ so far for the whole budget. average ps360 game have 30-35mln$ budget just for development costs while biggest ps360 projects have 70+mln$ development costs. see the difference?

I don't hold a strong opinion one way or another about this issue, I really don't care. But could you Nintendo fans stop grasping for straws regarding this issue? I mean, XiaoMay just said that Guitar Hero and Rock Band are core games. Seriously, what? And the thread creator basically ran out of games on his list, so he was forced to use games we've never heard about. I mean, "That Muramasa game?" And I guess you could pride yourself on a couple ports that are core games, but I wouldn't. The PS3 and 360 get plenty of casual games, and some of them sell well. I'm sure a list of casual games on the PS3 would tower above any list of hardcore games on the Wii. Doesn't make a difference, since people should just stop being insecure and play their games.
