Which model of PS3 usually the YLOD hits? The older or the new ones?

Launch 60GB.

Oh I see. So does this mean the new ones are still safe (80GB)?

Safe?  No hardware is safe from failure

I am clearly talking about the YLOD. I know that all hardwares will eventually break.

Wait  another year or so and ask that question again.  the 40gb/80gb has not been out as long as the 60gb

I  don;t appeciate the attitude

Launch systems are always the faulty ones. From my experiences the 40 and 80GB consoles run far smoother.

I think the bottom line of this thread is that PS3s aren't as 'un-breakable' as people think, but its nowhere near RROD level and I wouldnt even say its on the scale of E74 either

Well you started it. I also don't appreciate your attitude.

I am worried that's why I am asking. Instead of answering the question you answered me sarcastically.

my launch PS3 isn't in good condition either

it doesn't have the YLOD, but it freezes (often with green artifacts) after 30minutes-2hours of playtime on any game or disc

I guess in my case the RSX overheats. I've opened it once (the PS3 is out of waranty, obviously), but to get to the processors/heatsinks/fan seems to be very tricky, so I might be better off just selling it like this.

Ok. Thanks.

I am very relieved right now. That made me really worried.

Had my ps3 for about a year and a half without any problems--40gb/Spiderman 3 bundle.

But my man caught the ylod a few months ago with his launch 60gb;just got it back a few weeks ago.

End of 2016 prediction

PS4:43M-46M

XBONE:28M-33M

My answer was not sarcastic you just took it that way

I stopped reading after it quoted the internet as a source.

Well we've been hearing that the 60 GB PS3's have been crapping out. Could it be because it has too much shit in it (emotion engine)? Could it be simply because they are the oldest ones out? I don't think this is an RROD level event. But worth noting.
