Problem?

It costs 100 dollars more than it's worth.

Besides that, yeah, it's great.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Uhhh... YES!!! YES IT IS!

In a financial context, they are the same. The PS3 offers a very good deal for its price. I think most VGchartz users agree on that. The public doesn't agree at all. To them it is too expensive. The message of a good electronics deal falls on their deaf ears. Since they are the consumer, it is both underrated and overpriced in their eyes. And Sony can't convince them of the opposite.

It plays games. It costs 399 dollars. Its competition costs 199, plus a 20 dollar/free shipping hard-drive off ebay. It plays pretty much the same games, and the graphical difference is only noticable in a few exclusives, like Killzone 2. The best 360 exclusives also have fantastic graphics, like Gears 2. According to reviewers, the 360 still has a much "better" library. However, that is all opinion, just as art style, and the "value" of the PS3 are opinion.

What the PS3 gives you, for 200 dollars, is a blu-ray player, lifetime membership to PSN, and wireless internet. None of these things are necessary for gaming, but you are required to purchase them, because Sony chose for you to purchase them.

Thus, despite having "value" for people who care about wireless internet, online gaming subscriptions, and blu-ray movies, people who only care about gaming, and would rather not buy all of Sony's "value" have no choice. Thus, it is overpriced, because to buy a PS3, you have to buy a lot of stuff you may or may not need, instead of having the option to not buy said stuff.

If Sony was Microsoft, the PS3 would be like a version of windows Vista that costs 400 dollars, but came with Microsoft Office, as a free "value."

It's not free. You pay for it. The PS3's "value" doesn't exist, considering it is double the price of another gaming console that does the exact same thing, as far as gaming, yet allows you to pick and choose your "value" adding items, instead of requiring you to buy them.

Anything else is pure spin. Even if you believe it to be true with all your heart, it's spin. You just bought and adopted the spin as a personal belief. Doesn't change it.

The PS3 needs a price drop. It is not a "bargin." Would you really pay MORE for one? MORE than 400 dollars plus tax?

It is worth far more than it costs if used fully. It is great for streaming stuff from my computer, to show the iPlayer on a big screen, to show off pictures, blu-ray films and in my opinion, has the best line-up of any consoles out there and does not sound like a jet fighter

hmm maybe 2 years ago but now its just expensive if you want to use it mainly for blu ray...

Funny how if someone has another opinion about the PS3, they are automatically victims of spin. Funny how you ONCE AGAIN go with "my opinion is absolute truth, everyon else's isn't, unless they have the same opinion".  There are other ways to initiate discussion aside from basically telling other people they're wrong for not thinking the same as you think.

That would be expensive. Being that Sony is still losing money, it's not overpriced.

Expensive is having too high a price. Overpriced would be a company charging a high price to earn more profit. The Wii, DS, and PSP are overpriced.
