Forums - Sony - PSP questions

1) How the heck can you tell a PSP from a PSP 2000 and a PSP 2000 from a PSP 3000?

2) How is the PSPs sound.

Moving soon and going to be on the road for a couple days straight.  Rather then getting an MP3 player i'd never use again I was just planning on getting a PSP and using that for music playback.  Does it sound fine without earphones to where i could put it in the seat next to me music playing?

3) What kind of memory stick would i need for music.  Is it different from the default stick... and does the PSP even come with a default stick?

4) Do you need to get the TV hookups seperate?  If so... about what do they run?

Im going to post the comparison in a bit:

"More colors are displayed in the PSP 3000's screen, its a more stylish PSP than the regular 2000, a rounder feel to it as well. PSP 3000 also has a MICROPHONE,  those are considered the "major" differences between the two."

1. The first PSP is fat(er) than PSP 2000 (Slim) and PSP 3000. I don't know much about 2000 and 3000 differences, I only own the first one. Its also heavier (doh).

2. Its not bad, but its pretty quiet, it works good with earphones, but alone, it isn't really much (at least mine -> PSP 1000)

3. You need MagicGate cards. I think some bundles (maybe just PSP's too?) include Sony 1GB memory cards. You can buy third party ones too.

4. You need to get it separate. But only PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 have TV plug in. I don't know how it looks on TV.

"And yet, I've realized that maybe living a "decent" life means you won't ever have a "good" life."

Hm. None of those differences seem like a big deal to me. May go with a 2000 then if i can find a deal on it. Though online they seem to sell it for the same price as the 3000. Which is crazy.

I could buy a used one... but I worry about used PSPs and dead pixels. Then again if i'm using it soley for music playback and playing off my TVs dead pixels would be a non factor.

Thanks for the info guys.

go for a 3000, the screen brightness makes a difference when you're in well lit areas, and it has an anti-glare finish which also helps. nothing more frustrating than trying to look at the screen in the sunlight.

sound is pretty good with a good set of earphones.

I have an 8gb magic gate memory card which holds a crazy amount of albums. load them on with a mp3 rather than a Sony Atrac3 format, makes sorting them easier. download the PSP manager, you can get it for free to put on movies and music.

as for dead pixels, my release date PSP has one dead pixel, pretty good going considering how old it is.

Oh one more question... will the PSP manager or anything else allow you to make playlists or have the songs play randomly and such or do you have to do it one at a time or an album at a time or whatever?

1, PSP 1000 is fat PSP 2000 is light and PSP 3000 is bright

2. use headphones and they're good sounding it sounds better than my Ipod (my ipod is Ipod nano)

3.
you can get this

BUT this is alot cheaper and works 100%

4. you do need to buy it, and like Son1x sez , only PSP 2000 and PSP 3000 can use this feature
