@vizunary

your not the only one =)

How can u Sony fans complain (Hus, leo-j etc) about Nintendo fans trolling the thread where itself is asks you to do practically just that? What, we are all supposed to say "no it didn't flop" to be considered un-biased and non-trolls? I agree with most people here, Heavenly Sword flopped hard, Warhawk did excellently as did Lair considering its quality.

LMFAO

it did 77k in 3 days, week is 7 days simple math gives you around 180k first full week.

Your post is the defenition of spining bs fud.

And your post is the definition of bad logic, even if it is "simple math."

First, HS released on a Thursday, most games release on a Tuesday, so that's 2 fewer days compared to the average new game, not 4 fewer days.

But more importantly, even for 7 days, you couldn't determine sales by simply extrapolating sales from the first 3 days. Sales decrease rapidly over time. In fact sales will decline far more over the first few days and weeks than they will later on.

The sales graph of your "simple math" logic would be a horizontal line, which is just idiotic (I will take that back if HS sells over 9 million in a year). Even something like this probably isn't right, the real graph would look more like this.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

So, as Sales for Heavenly Sword decrease, so does the number of Smart Immigrants? Jesus, this board gets abstract.

Chart Week Ending 15th September 2007

So 3 days on store shelfs, ohh what a flop ohhh noes its the end.

Before insulting other people's intelligence, you should learn how to count (a primary school skill for most people)... Let's go togerher:

12... 13... 14... 15... four days, not three!

Again:

12... 13... 14... 15... still four!

Sorry that math is not "simple" enough for some people!

Heh, I'm too lazy to make my own graphs to make such an obvious point (to 99% of us), and those were the best examples I could find using Google image search...

75% of the people that buy a game in a week buy it the first day, this is no rocket science.

"nothing but your opinion"

"of the 7 games i had for PS3 not one did i buy on the first day"

Actually his point is not opinion, whereas your point is so useless you have wasted all of our time by even posting it.

I know there are very few PS3 owners out there, but anecdotal evidence regarding your own spending habits (7 games??) is NOT a large enough sample size to matter.

Jesus, this kind of reasoning should be a bannable offense. At the very least you should be forced to enroll in a remedial statistics course.

so your telling me that johnlucas chiming in on how "MGS4 will not go to the PS3" or happysquirrel simply stopping by to say "i always said it would flop" are somehow constructive arguments in a sales discussion?

John Lucas deals with predictions, and he like anyone else is entitled to their prediction. Your decision to take such offense to such his prediction was your own choice. People predict constantly that the Wii will be a fad, but no one has taken as much issue with that as the Sony fans of this site have taken with John Lucas over the MGS4 prediction. Grow up. Happysquirrel's comment could have been worded better, but if he made a prediction he has every right to call crow on it, that's how we do things around here. These really aren't the terribly best examples for your argument nor do they justify your behavior in this thread.

Your tendancy to snap at people with little or no projocation doesn't exactly play to your defense either.

many posters seem "giddy" at the sound of anything negative about the PS3, these are the people i was referring to and they know who they are. i feel that my reasoning for this incessant negativeness about the PS3 is exactly what i posted before.

It would appear many Sony fans on this forum seem to "feel" that if anyone has anything negative to say about the Ps3 they clearly must be happy about it. But this defense has been getting used too much for too long to be justified as what you claim it is anymore. In the end it seems to have become little more than an excuse for you and others to attack those who say things you don't like about Sony.

i never said this game was god's gift... i always said it would be visually impressive and fun, so it lived up to my expectations thus far.

And no one was questioning your satisfaction of a game you don't even own or its value as a game irregardless its sales. Most of us think it was a good game. All that was being discussed here was sales.

vizunary said:

and sorry but i think it's only fair to use hollywood's generally excepted definition of a flop, a project that lost money...

That's your opinion and your entitled to it, and I respect that, but don't expect others to share it or be angry at them for holding their own definitions.

vizunary said:

FF: the spirits within was a flop, HS is not quite a flop as of yet, they didn't even pull waterworld out of theaters the 1st weekend, they let it suck for awhile...

From your standpoint that's valid, but in the end you're just making excuses for why people don't accept your opinion over their own. Your opinion isn't even a bad one, it's a good argument but If this was the real issue then you could have just made your response discussing this instead of just lashing out at people.

btw, my feelings aren't hurt... i'm drinking =)

I would be too if I were you.

Heavenly Sword has flopped like Blue dragon and Lair. Cant believe how people can debate this 77k is nothing the only thing you can do is pray that ioi did something wrong with the update. Some Wiifans aint making the situation better either you are full of shit as the defenders. I am almost glad that the game has not sold much, the game is way too short they should have realised that.
