I didn't see a thread, so feel free to use this one to discuss. 

Judging by numbers 51-60, I'm not anticipating being too happy with the top 10. 

- Mario Kart Wii? (seriously?? MK should only have 1 game on the list.  Multiple MK's would be like having Madden 07, 08, 09, etc.) (Yes, I'm aware that the games are slightly different.  But the general formula is the same, much like Madden). 

- Uncharted?  Top 60 games of all time?  I will have to assume that one of the Tomb Raiders is placing higher.. since they did it first and best.

- Halo 2?  Really?  Seriously?  I can see Halo and Halo 3 (for it's MP) being on the list.. but Halo 2?

I'm stunned.  Some people are really, really clueless.

Actually, considering most Mario Kart-games are really great, you shouldn't go "Well they should only have one, otherwise it's unfair" ... Because a good game is a good game. This is the list of Top 100 best games. Discrimination like "Well we already have a game from this series, so we shouldn't include this game even if it's loads better than lots of the others on the list" would piss me off a lot more than what I'm seeing now.

Halo 2 is the best Halo... and one of the best FPS ever. Deserves to be on list

Uncharted > Tomb Raider... by lots. Deserves to be on list

MK Wii is an awesome game, one of the best on Wii. Deserves to be on list.

Number 1 will be...
LoZ: Ocarina of Time
or
MGS4 : GotP
or
Final Fantasy 7

At least a couple of factors to take in to account.

The sheer volume of Sony and Nintendo supporters on the site.

The average age of users on VGChartz (ie lots of teenagers) therefore a lot have not played many of the classic games out there, or just simply do not appreciate them the way others do.

 Only if you want the list to be even more of a joke.  Halo 3 shouldn't be in the top 10.  Maybe Top 25.

 Some people think the Madden games are really great, too.  However, the gameplay changes to Mario Kart are of the same depth that happens in the Madden games.  When things change too much, people bitched (see: Double Dash).

This isn't discrimination.  This is intelligence.  Most of the Mario Kart games are EXACTLY the same.  Besides, Mario Kart 64 FTW.

Different games are different games. Arguments could be made to many other games being EXACTLY the same besides perhaps the story.

I agree that Mario Kart 64 is the best, though. Really, though, they are games. Different games. And they should be judged as such.

not to be rude, but its getting tiring, especially ont he comments bit on the top 100 article, lots of people keep on saying "oh whata bout SNEs games, what about NES games" e.t.c.

First, sure, nostalgia plays a part... That's part of why Pokemon (and many Nintendo franchises) remain popular after all these years.  But it really comes down to solid gameplay.

Second, the problem is, the list is "Top 100 games of all time," not "Top 100 games of the past 5 years" or "Top 100 games that The Xbox Man has played."

Lastly, just because something is "old" or "before you were born" or "crappy graphics," doesn't mean it sucks.  The reason that people keep asking about older games is that a lot of these new games being put on the list haven't even been out a year.  Staying power is a big factor in rating games.. and if nobody is playing Uncharted (for instance) in 2 years, then why should it be on a top 100 list?  Because you played it 2 weeks ago and thought it was the BEST GAME EVAR until a new game comes along in a month and then that is the BEST GAME EVAR?  Doesn't really make a lot of sense.
