VGC Top 100 Discussion thread

not to be rude, but its getting tiring, especially ont he comments bit on the top 100 article, lots of people keep on saying "oh whata bout SNEs games, what about NES games" e.t.c.

First, sure, nostalgia plays a part... That's part of why Pokemon (and many Nintendo franchises) remain popular after all these years.  But it really comes down to solid gameplay.

Second, the problem is, the list is "Top 100 games of all time," not "Top 100 games of the past 5 years" or "Top 100 games that The Xbox Man has played."

Lastly, just because something is "old" or "before you were born" or "crappy graphics," doesn't mean it sucks.  The reason that people keep asking about older games is that a lot of these new games being put on the list haven't even been out a year.  Staying power is a big factor in rating games.. and if nobody is playing Uncharted (for instance) in 2 years, then why should it be on a top 100 list?  Because you played it 2 weeks ago and thought it was the BEST GAME EVAR until a new game comes along in a month and then that is the BEST GAME EVAR?  Doesn't really make a lot of sense.
