Forums - Sony - New Firmware Releasing During E3? What New Feature Will They Add?

PS2 Backward compatibility would be great, and I would really like it.

But all the people in this thread claiming that it would result in any significant boost in sales is delusional. For a large number of PS3 owners it would simply mean throwing out their PS2. All PS2 owners out there that want PS3 games badly enough to pay the current price have already done so.

Is the source GameFork?

On a more serious note, I want URGENTLY:

-Auto trophy syncing! You have a fucking 6 core 3.2 GHz processor and you can't update my trophies and play a game at the same time?

-In game web browser! Occasionally, I'll need some hints for a game, and walking all the way to my computer is annoying >.>

-A better friends list. I've been saying this for ages. It is hideous. It is plain, and generic.

Features that would be nice:

-Looking at pictures/watching videos in game. Handy during 10 minute installs.

-Perhaps a revamp of the whole PSN. Streamline it more. Make things easier to find, and better looking. Keep the XMB, though.

-Cross game voice chat. Whatever, I don't even have a mike yet.

-Improve the browser. Again. "Better than IE" isn't good enough; nobody with any computer sense has used IE in years.

-Tell me when I have a message! Keep an icon, or even a popup, on the screen! How often do you guys go through your friends list and check for PMs?

Dedicated video download store and improvements in Home

There is a video download store, it has been there for a year already. It has 1783 movies available to rent/buy. ( I just checked), not to mention tv shows and other videos.

They might add a dedicated music download service to the PS store.

and to go along with PS2 bc it would be so cool if there were other trophies which could be attained for past PS2 games, when they are played on the PS3. Same for PS1 games.

The PSN would even show PSP trophies, all in a cohesive list of trophies.

This needs to be done, it would really change how people would play games I think. It would simultaneously kill off the PS2, redirect the sales to the PS3, but most importantly it would substantially raise software sales across the board for all the great past PS1/2/PSP games.

Also, the psn should increase the presence of downloadable PS1/2/PSP games on the PSN, all of which should have "retro trophy support".

Imagine being able to go for trophies in any and all of the past greatest PS games.

That would own up to the phrase; Play Beyond

I think PS2 backwards compatibility would be great. One thing I'd really like though is if they do something about the in-game XMB by making it respond much faster. It's been great to be able to use it to communicate with others and to listen to music while playing Killzone 2, but it'd be better if icons and stuff would load faster.

it'll probably be some e3 only feature like some sort of rss thing unfortunately

no but E3 will be live in HOME.

seriously? is there a link that says this?

why do you think Sony added the Gamers Lounge? Capcom was the first company to present in Home last year.

That will be laggy as hell.

when you get a trophey it auto syncs

Now playing: Gta4(ps3)I live in hope that one day cross game voice chat will come to the ps3

Caching of all pictures used by the trophy system.
It's quite slow to load pictures when comparing trophies.
Or even better a generic picture caching system for all services running from the XMB.
This should be quite easy to implement.

cross game voice and video chat
