Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony's controllers will shake again

Once they finally settled, they announced that they were working together to implement rumble.

So ummmmm, what?

Interesting; do you have a link to that information?

I just remember Sony being sued by some company supposedly owned in-part by Nintendo the last time they did rumbly stuff.

i'm gonna have to wait till they compare battery life, hopefully it works well.

the name of the controller is dualshock 3 isn't it, and it should have the touchsense technology in it, i'll be surprised if it's not.

Thus, the "Oh man, this controller is so much lighter!" comments fade away.

I will say I'm a fan of Rumble, even if its use is just "Oh crap, you got hit? *bbzrbbzrbbzr*"

I'm not a big fan of rumble, if they can make it different then last gens i will be happy.

YOu wil always have the "die hard" fans that will try to make bad things about their system sound better--which is sad b/c there are some people out there that actualy dont want rumble--but most just say they dont so that they feel better about the purchase they made

I just remember Sony being sued by some company supposedly owned in-part by Nintendo the last time they did rumbly stuff.

You need to find a new source or a buddy has been lying to you.

Immersion Corp sued Sony for patent infringement a few years ago because the technology in the DualShock 2 was too similar to the technology Immersion Corp owns the patents to.  At this same time, they suded Microsoft.  Microsoft settled the suit out of court and as part of the settlement bought 11% of the company shares (the number might be off now that I think about it but it's close).

Sony decided to fight the lawsuit in court and lost.  Immersion Corp was awarded a $90+ million win over Sony. They then appealed the rulling twice and lost both.   At this point MS sold off it's shares to Immersion Corp but still licenses the rumble technology from them.

Sony and Immersion Corp finally came to terms with how best to pay the $90 million and that's by adding Immerions Corps newest rumble based technology into the PS3 since Sony coudln't do it on their own which is the new rumble tech being discussed above (though itsounds exactly like old generation rumble and nothing new).

Nintendo was never sued by Immersion Corp because Nintendo developed and patented their won technology.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

Rumble seriously never mattered to me...only useful thing it EVER did was the Stone of Agony in OOT. Which was, incidentally, it's first use that I know of. Oohh, the controller shakes......so what? But...Hideo Kojima seems pretty insistent on it being implemented....maybe you can feel those giant bipedal things walking from far away? "rumble"...."rumble"...."RUMBLE"..."RUMBLE"....."RUMBLERUMBLERUMBLERUMBLE" Hehe. I have to admit, THAT would be cool. Only if you had to use it though, and you couldn't just see or hear them.

Does anyone else think that Sony has some serious problem with keeping secrets. I don't think Sony has announced a single thing this generation that we didn't know at least a week before they did.

its about time--i think its still funny "rumble is so last gen"--sure sure you keep telling your self that but see what the fans really want

 lol i remember that.

Rumble is good for shooters and racers especially so this is welcome.

And Sony will not get sued again, the company that sued them are the ones working on this controller with Sony.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
