Not going to happen.

One thing for sure, I predict that DQIX will lower the productivity of the entire Japan by at least 20% on its release date.

Hell the fuck no. It'll stand somewhere between 4th and 7th.

It won't set the Japanese record let alone the American record.

The DS lends itself to smaller openings but better overall legs. I think the first week will be ~2.0-2.2 million but it'll have a second week like DQ7.

I think it will do something between 1-1.3 million on the first week.

I don't think so. It will rather be something like 1.5-2M first week and then strong legs to carry it for some insane amoun sold.

Dragon Quest games don't tend to sell that way, people normaly buy them within the first few days. That's why Japan has a law which states that Dragon Quest games can only be released on weekends so people don't take days off work to buy them.

That's true but you have to weigh that with the nature of DS owners which is to pick up games at a steady rate for a LONG time. Plus with the state of the Japanese economy I don't think we will see a FFVIII (in japan) or Halo 3 (in america) type launch but it should be over 2million hopefully.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

This is still a JRPG. It won't have legs like any of the evergreens. It will sell like the DQ games before it.

Official or unofficial law?

its just an urban legend that has spread like wild fire becasue of use of the internet..

there is no real law that prohibits dragon quest games from being released durring the week.

hello how are you.

Maybe, but user base can be triple yet sale the same the core/fanbase of a franchise stays reasonable the same PS2 proved that.
