I think my measure of quality here is how much these games would sell if they weren't bundled.

I believe my point has just been proven.
Pixel Art can be fun.

about 44% of the user base in japan bought it so I think it sold well in japan and it deserves the rank of best selling game and there's nothing anyone can say that change that

I don't know who could say people buy it only because of Wii Sports. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros., Wii Fit, Mario Kart Wii, No More Heroes those are reasons to buy it.

Do you understand what he is saying?
HD Console fanboys say Wii Sports doesn't count as sales because it is bundled.
Then HD Console fanboys when a Wii game FAILS to sell ie Madword CLAIM the only reason people by the Wii is because of Wii Sports.
can you see how both those stastements are contradictory? Basically HD console owners shoot themself in the ass for saying these things.
MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND!!
| kowenicki said: @nrodlead that is just silly and you know it.... It is a free non-essential item at best... at worst it is a forced sale. How can anyone argue against that sensibly? |
My reasoning is no more silly than the OP or anyone else who wants to discount wii sports sales. I agree it is a forced sale, so it counts. Super Mario Bros was also a "forced" sale for most of it's life and it counts. Halo 3, Uncharted, Motorstorm and plenty of other games are going to have extensive "forced" sales and those should count too.
Typically the argument against the sales counting goes like this.
"I don't want the Wii to have the best selling game"
"but I am a nintendo fan by my fake love for Super Mario Bros"
"So the sales don't count because my notion of what is good counts more than you"
anyways, this topic is stupid and I think I'm just going to not come back here.

Well, when I'm talking about Wii Sports, I'm not primarily talking about the hd games. I'm talking about the fact that people try to compare it to SMB, and it is no SMB in terms of anything.
And I wouldn't say the Wii only sells because of Wii Sports as I said before. But, I would say that so far the games on Wii that have sold so well so far are family friendly or casual games look at the top 10 games in sales on the console while in comparison to similar games on the other consoles the good to great M-rated games on Wii don't seem to sell as well as they do on the PS3 or 360 in spite of the Wii's much larger install base.
@txrattlesnake
Okay, now your taking the topic from "Why is Wii Sports being tracked if its a bundled game?" to now comparing top 10 games are family friendly to the 360/PS3. Dude you sure cannot make up your mind. Clearly you don't know what your talking about. The subject has already been answered by a huge load of users that posted in your questionable thread. Take those answers and you evaluate them yourself and come to an conclusion. I own all consoles this generation, so I have no bias to one console but I already know the answer and told you.

I was trying to answer that person's question that asked why hd fans talk about the sales of Madworld and then say games like Wii Sports are the only games that sell on Wii.
I'm so confused.
I thought people only bought Wii for Wii sports.
If it's the only reason people buy the Wii, then why wouldn't it count as a game.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
| txrattlesnake said: Going back to look at the NES there were two reasons to buy an NES. One: it was the first game system available after the crash, and Two: Super Mario Brothers. It was the first great game on the system and remained so for a couple of years. It was soley responsible for NES sales at least until games like Metroid and Zelda came out a couple of years later. When you look at Wii, sure Wii Sports was in the box, but the first reason to buy the console was Zelda: Twilight Princess, then Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros., Wii Fit, and Mario Kart Wii, and while these other games were responsible for Wii sales Wii Sports was just riding along in the box and being given sales numbers it probably hadn't earned. |
So 3.7 million copies of Twilight Princess sold over 14 million Wiis in the Wiis first year? Personally, if all I wanted was Twilight Princess and was not interested in the gameplay of Wii Sports (and what it could mean for other games) I could have paid $50 instead of $300.

I paid for something I dont even want... and yet that counts as a sale? Even if I opened it and played it and it got very old after the first week... it is still something I may not have wanted to pay for but did.... I still say it hasnt SOLD anything in the west, it is a free non-essential item in the box.... If I say to the guy behind the counter, tell you what keep the wii sports... and he says ok... it is still full price. |
My boyfriend bought me Shinobi for the PS2 for Christmas the first year we were together. The game is horrible, unplayable and boring (my opinion). I played it 15-30 minutes tops but it still counts as a sale for the game even if it was barely played.
txrattlesnake said:
I agree. It is just another item in the box. The real reason to buy the Wii during the holidays of '06 was Zelda: Twilight Princess. |
I bought it on November 19th 2006 for BOTH Wii Sports and Twilight Princess but without the Wiimote/Wiisports I would have probably bought TP on Gamecube and waited before I got into this gen.
