Aren't you guys facing some of the highest unemployment in the country?

@Kasz: North Carolinan was in the top half of states in terms of education!?  Madness.  We're usually at like 40ish.

That said, we have improved a lot in the past few years.  Plus, North Carolina's college system is up there with California.  UNC, Duke, NC State, and Wake Forest along with many other quality smaller universities.  In terms of sports, UNC just won a national championship in basketball for the second time in five years, the Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup a few years ago, the Panthers lost in the Super Bowl, and the Bobcats, who were founded only a few years ago, are now competitive.  Plus, Charlotte's where everything Nascar is based, if you're into that.  Aside from that, you've got the mountains to your west and the beach to your east.  We're doing much better than most states in terms of the economy as well.

You might want to take a class in statistics, or get off a website that is all about making conclusions about a population based on a very small sample.

I'd like to visit California sometime the advertisments running over here in Ireland with videos of sandy beaches, palm trees and Arnold Schwarzenegger saying "Welcome to California" followed by a 'visit california' logo make the place look great.

Well you do not have the best sports. Boston does.

Bruins are in the 2nd round of playoffs currently
Celtics are in the 2nd round of playoffs currently
Patriots missed the playoffs but went 11-5, they usually do really well
Red Sox won the world series recently and are a generally great team.

No other state can compete with Massachusetts sports.

Reagan Good (I wouldn't go so far as to say great but he was good)

Hoover Terrible (Horrible, Bad, etc.)

 



Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.
