Neither will truly become all time greats until they have their own Honey Nut Cheerios commercial.

Game Fuel is a great first step, but everyone knows that being with Buzz the Bee on National Television truly brings one greatness.

Witness... the powah!

LMAO thats a nice commercial.

Halo has books on the New York Times best seller list, action figures and toys, it's own mountain dew drink, appreaded on Slurpee cups, getting it's own version of RISK, Red vs. Blue and many other things, MGS hasn't really gotten passed the video game world, it'll get a movie since it went exclusive with sony though.

lool

MGS4 by a LONG shot.
Halo doesn't even compete with any metal gear games, in my opinion.

I view this akin to arguing over whether Return of the Jedi was better than The Godfather 3.

One had muppets, the other Sophia Coppola.

In the end, both series had far better offerings previous to these latest games.

they are both not very influential games if you think about it, people in different age groups will think of it very differently from one another as well.

both offer incredible gameplay and amazing characters. So really they both are the top of gaming so far this generation. Personally I choose Halo 3 because I am in love the the Halo universe's lore as well as the excellent replayabillity.

And on a side note while I do love the game MGS4 is still much much too long winded in terms of dialouge. Kojima really needs to learn where to draw the line.

I have to go with rocket pig here ... the more I play halo 3 the more it makes me pine for halo 1 story and halo 2 online... the extra features in 3 keep it alive.....  MGS4 it looks pretty and makes a nice interactive movie, but needs an editor and to stick to the series core in mechanics ....

Exactly how I feel. Halo 1 had a fun story, Halo 2 had the online play (though DAMN BUNGIE for not sticking with the assault rifle). MGS had the story and "newness" while MGS3 had the multitude of options (though damn that camera and those horrid controls).

MGS2 was rubbish.

Halo 3 and MGS4 are excellent examples of moving the series forward technically to the tune of losing some of the magic that made them so much fun in the first place.

I think halo 3 is more influential while metal gear 4 is greater
