wow playstation fans have really lowered the bar for themselves.

NOBODY thought the xbox 360 could compete with the ps3 2 years ago.

Now sony fanboys are in a psychotic panic, trying to spin everything to justify being in last place.

People forget that the PS3 is only the 4th best selling console over that time period.

the numbers don't lie but the post can misrepresent.  Every console does better sales in its second year than in its first.  comparing ps3 1st year sales to 360 second years sales...go ahead and pat yourself on the back and give yourself a high-five.  you did a great job at cherry picking data.  horray!!!

 

How is this misrepresented?  The time peried is the Launch of PS3 until now.  Thats almos 2.5 years. In that time period it is behind the sales of 4 other systems.  

 

 

 

To be fair, the 360 is still trailing the PS2 from its launch too.  And by a larger margin as well.

So some of you guys actually prefer the "Microsoft way" over the "Sony way"?
I mean they released a new console just 4 years after releasing the original xbox.
I would really feel pissed off if Sony would throw the ps4 on the market just 4 years after I bought it
(assuming I bought it on the release day).

Moreover unlike Sony they completely halted software production of the xbox and barely released a game after the launch of 360. Its just plain stupid to say xbox is in 2.place after a headstart of 1 1/2 years.
Besides all that matter are software sales really.

what......ps3 fans listen the system is great but stop trying to spin stuff. The fact remains that the 360 is and has been outselling the ps3 on a more regular basis than the other way around since the ps3 launched. Its time to just accept it.

For $500/600 vs $300/400 that's pretty good. It doesn't really affect the way things are now though.

The OP is the one who is Cherry-Picking.  "Same point in time" ???  So the PS3 is on a different timeline now?  No sorry.  the gap is 8 million.  There is no cherry picking there.  Just to total number

You are taking one point of data: all of the ps3's sales data compared to the best 2.5 (of 3.5) years of the 360s sales data.

You are ignoreing a signifcant portion of data: launch year sales are ALWAYS lower than second year sales making this comparision not entirely relavant.  price should probably be considered as well.

 

for the record, the OP is cherry picking as well.  his point of data is the ps3's first 2.5 years compared to the 360's first 2.5 years.  ...but at least this is an apples to apples comparision.

 

when you take in all of the data: the 360's head start, the ps3's really high price, the effect of the ecomony, the fact these two systems share something like 95% of the same library, blu-ray, xbl vs. psn, ect...they are on pretty equal footing atm.  that's why i still maintain that with the current evidence it is a 50/50 chance at who will win LTD.
