No, they don't. If you look at VGChartz's list for the top-selling games of all time in the Americas, you have to get down to spot 18 before you find your first FPS, which is Halo 3. In the top 50 titles in the region, FPSes only make up a handful.

This is good, apart from one fatal flaw. You have to look at current gen trneds to see what is selling NOW.

If you look at the 360 sale in America.

In the top 10 you have

1. Halo 3

2. COD 4

4. COD: WAW

5. Gears at War

7. Gears at War 2

which is a big jump to FPS this gen then last.

PS3 also has 5 shooters in Top 10.

 

The reason I picked these two consoles is because they are supposedly the ones that the hardcore game goes for, yet the casual gamer etc goes for the Wii.

Then you should do the same for the PC, considering it's far more hardcore than either of those 2 consoles. See how much FPSes are selling there.

I remember that game from along time ago. IIRC there was a 2nd one.

On-topic: American gamers prefer hyper-realism, there is no way around that. They may have been more accepting in past generations, but cel-shading/toon style is something they are less open to now. That is just the way it is with the advent of HD FPSs.

Early cell shaded games looked crappy compared to their 3D counter parts and excluding a few noticeable successes didn't sell well. Why join the bandwagon of fail?

Because not all of us play games based on how well they sell or what our friends think of them.

And I'm not aware of 'early' Cel Shaded games doing bad compared to the rest.  Some early Cel Shaded games were such as Cel Damage, Fear Effect, Feer Effect 2, Monster Rancer 3, Sheep Dog 'n' Wolf, Sonic Shuffle and Tokimeki Memorial.  All of those were between the years 2000 and 2001.  Many of them don't even have sales records.

i forgot about monster rancher man that one was a drain on my life for awhile..... it would have been nice if the monster rancher line of games the manual and what you could do in game were actually the same, but still a fun game
