Iconic quote by Carl2291

"And you dont think PS3 is going anywhere? It just sold 4x more than the Wii, with a Demo... a fucking DEMO!!!"

We are still waiting for these Icons to appear

With Sony revealing something 'HUGE' next week is the tide changing in Sony's favour?

Will the king return to claim its crown or are we in for some more surprises?

DISCUSSSSS

I don't think so but things have been much more interesting lately and should continue to be interesting (ie no more landlside "wins" for the Wii week in and week out).

It is clear that Wii has been in a slump for several weeks now. However, PS3 though doing "ok", didn't really do anything spectacular either, except of course for the Japan numbers posted in your OP (which are really spectacular, Japan is really craving for some good old FF...).

I doubt MH this week in Japan will greatly improve the Wii's position this week and next but it should at least slow its decline (14k is really low...).

However, rest of the world (Americas and Others) should stay pretty much the same as this week for a long time with the release of Wii Sports resort bringing back the excitement this summer.

All in all, I just think this week in Japan showed that PS3 still has potential for monster sales when FF comes out but this week will be short lived and it will slowly drop back to the 15-20k region in the 2-3 weeks time.

But hay, what do I know, I am a tax advisor in Luxembourg...

no

The generation is over, the reason being the wii needs to simply bring out only a few more blockbusters and it will increase the lead beyond the point of no return (if anyone actually believes it hasn't reached it yet). The war was over the minute we found out how much Nintendo was making per system sold, BEFORE the news came out that they reduced cost.

Sony cannot turn the tide, Microsoft need only create more bundles and lower the price to stay the dominate HD console and for the Wii, it's over folks Nintendo pwnd everyone this cycle.

lol? it's only final fantasy it won't change anything - even in japan.

not really. too early to call. maybe in Japan for a few weeks

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

???

So - even with the FFXIII hardware boost, Wii still wins the week?

The only thing coming soon that would change things is WiiSports:Resort - if *that* flunks (in Japan or elsewhere), along with M+ - then things will be changing.

Wii sales were always going to slow down sometime - they might have to like..... cut the price.... oneday.

Cut the price? Come on they've only sold 50 million units, it's TOO early..

Joking aside it's been an insane ride to this point, give us a new Zelda and 2D Metroid title plus different Wii console colors and bundle in Wii resort and you can stamp this son of a bitch done, the generation is over.

Come on Nintendians, the OP does not talk about the PS3 vs Wii cause that will not change much outside Japan, he (and everyone else) is talking about PS3 vs XBox360.
The Wii won the generation. There. Happy?

Today I have counted five threads on the Japanese PS3 numbers and at least three on the fact that the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum will have one exclusive challenge mode.

Do PS3 fans really wonder why everything on this site is perceived to be a failure relative to hype?
