@LAFFER - I checked your profile - I see you are from japan - most Asians hate the japanese (ask anyone from china - south korea - taiwan or the phillipines and they will tell you how the japanese raped and murdered their mothers and fathers during world war 2). Rememebr the Rape of NANKING?? - i guess we now know who the real nationalist is and war mongerer is.

You are too quick to simply say 'Americans buy American products'. If you have a look at buying trends, you'll see that the UK and Australia are also quite xbox happy. Is it because Australians want to 'buy American' No, we just as a collective, like the same games that the Americans do. And far be it from me to make any broad generalisations, but the 360 has more games that appeal to the sterotypical English speaker. The PS3 has more games aimed at the Japanese and Europeans, and thus does better there

It definitely isn't nationalism. America is consumerist beyond reason. I don't think anyone over here worries about where anything came from. Nothing's manufactured here anymore so you can't technically call anything "American" anyway.sometimes.

For reasons for ps3's less than stellar performance here, look to:

1. poor first year of games (letting x360 run away with the market)
2. poor marketing
3. poor strategy
4. poor pricing

M$ is sony's closest competitor this gen and they've one-up'ed sony in all four areas this gen.

Not to mention we're the least nationalistic of all countries in terms of sales. We purchase products from all over the world at the expense of American companies a good portion of the time. In truth Americans should supporting American companies who are willing to give them quality products right now, because our economy needs to be strengthened. If the OP wants to see nationalistic pride in purchases, he need look no further than the Japanese. He's pointing the nationalistic finger at the wrong country.

How about we get some American companies that are ABLE to give quality products?
