Forums - Nintendo - Wiiware needs to take a step up badly!

Your game collection suggests that you own a mere 11 downloadable games.

Ignroing VC, I recommend you purchase World of Goo obviously, Defend Your Castle, Art Style: Orbient, Strong bad's Cool Game for Attractive People if that floats your boat.

I have World of Goo on my PC, I don't need it for my wii.  I can also play Defend Your Castle online for free.   Art Style games are not my cup of tee.  Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People interests me, but would I have to buy all 5 to complete it?  If so I am not spending $50 for a game like that.  I may give Strong Bad games a try, but 1000 points a pop is a little steep

Ahh, I was wondering why you were talking about it as if you owned it. You know the PC version is on VGChartz right. add it to your collection!

And no, the flash defend your castle has nothing on the wiiware version.

I haven't actually played any of the Strong bad games, presumably it's like a tv series. Each episode has a conclusion, and then the whole thing has a final conclusion

@ coasterlove - which hardware limitation of the Wii prevents the downloading off free things off the Wii Shop Channel. I mean, I was pretty sure I had done exactly that, my memory is so bad

There really isn't any need for sarcasm, is there? And I was speaking of demos fo games. Maybe I missed it and there are demos? Also, if it isn't hardware limitations that stopped them from giving game demos, it doesn't really matter seeing as they haven't done it for whatever reason.

There probably wasn't any need for sarcasm, you're right. The lack of demos on Wiiware is due to the fact that none have been uploaded, not because of hardware limitations. I'm not really sure why there are no demos to be honest, it's clearly not that Nintendo objects to them - you can download demos of full DS games via the Wii

Doesn't help that they are adding flash support to WiiWare.

Crystal Defenders R1 looks pretty good...
But that's because I'm comparing it to the Star Craft Map "Tower Defence".

I have the Crystal Defenders version on XBLA.  I like the game.  Not a whole lot to it, but it's a fun time waster.

In terms of original content, WiiWare is lacking compared to the XBLA and PSN services. Virtual Console seems to be their focus. Then again, what are they releasing now... one game a week?

@Scottie

Give me a reason wii ware doesn't offer quality games "only".  My best example is Braid, quality game average graphics.  The game would be perfect for the Wii Ware library.  Now here we sit with Party Fun Pirate.

I understand children play the wii too.  I just think if they are only going to produce 1 game a week, why even put out a shit game like Party Fun Pirate.  Give me Party Fun Pirate along with for instance Explodemon.  The kids get something and so do I.

It's not like Nintendo can cast a spell to make all the different developers' games amazing. Yeah, there are a lot of games that aren't that great, but you also have the Virtual Console and actual Wii games (not to mention Gamecube games) to play. I too wish there were more awesome games; however expecting several of them a week is pretty unreasonable and unrealistic.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

As you can see in the official thread, I own six WiiWare games and like them all. I've also tried several other ones, and liked most of those (Toki Tori especially). Plus, there are several games I want but haven't had the time to play yet. And it's got three upcoming games I'm excited about, and two I'm keeping an eye on. Overall, not too shabby.

That said, I WOULD like to see more than one come out each week.

Nintendo doesn't make every WiiWare game. Other developers have to step up and make good games for the service.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

You have to take into consideration that Nintendo considers its entire download service as a whole. They release 3 games per week on the service (usually) before the DSi Launched they would release a WiiWare game and 2 VC games, now its 1 DSi game, 1 WiiWare game and 1 VC game, that is 156 Games a year - plenty for me.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Well, I agree with the OP. I just haven't been convinced of an awesome WW title outside of My Life As a King.
