And I strongly disagree, this coming from someone who's favorite genre is RPG's. I don't know the story to over half the RPG's I've played (And beat). I played them because the gameplay was fun, and for no other reason whatsoever. I guess I'm in the minority though.
That's why I laugh (literally) at my friends who talk about the story in COD4. What? It's a good story? WHO CARES? It had the best FPS gameplay ever at it's release - that's why I bought it. I played through the first level and couldn't even tell you what it was about - the only thing I remember is running through the ship. Video games stories are way way way way way way way way overrated.
