You people care WAY too much about characters. Just play the game...I could care less if he was a black belt japanese karate master who spoke like a redneck. Is the game fun? Ok, then I'll buy it. We aren't reading novels here.

The characters are quite important to RPG's I'd say. At the very least there should be character development.

Not everyone find it fun to play as a "black belt japanese karate master who spoke like redneck" lol :p

And I strongly disagree, this coming from someone who's favorite genre is RPG's.  I don't know the story to over half the RPG's I've played (And beat).  I played them because the gameplay was fun, and for no other reason whatsoever.  I guess I'm in the minority though.

That's why I laugh (literally) at my friends who talk about the story in COD4.  What?  It's a good story?  WHO CARES?  It had the best FPS gameplay ever at it's release - that's why I bought it.  I played through the first level and couldn't even tell you what it was about - the only thing I remember is running through the ship.  Video games stories are way way way way way way way way overrated.
