Vice City it was ah the memories

i think Uncharted2 and the New Ratchet will do some damage theres a high possibility of a ps3 price cut this fall as well did u see my thread on my analysis of ps3 sales for this holiday season? I think my thoughts in that thread will come back to haunt most on this site thinking im just a joker wen comes to analyzing sales

OPEN ME

Damage to what?

Neither Uncharted 2 nor Ratchet will make any significant impact on sales....look at Resident Evil 5 boost, and it is a way bigger "sales wave" maker than both Uncharted and Ratchet together.

Unless both games turn out really good

You still don't understand then.

If GT5 turns out to be a poor game, and as a result it's legs are cut short and it sells a "mere" 6 or 7 million, it would still have a much bigger impact on the hardware sales than Uncharted would if it was rated the best game of all time.

IMO all 3 could be a bit to high... IMO the PS3 even with a 100$ priceut it wont pass the 32-34 million mark. In Japan even with FFXIII it wont pass the 5 million this year...

The 360, well it can get to 40 million... but thats all... I doubt that it will reach 1.91 million this year... hell I wouldent even bet on 1.5 ;)

The Wii... well that has a shot, except if sales slow down...

 Someone who understands...

Very few games actually make a huge impact on console sales when they are getting deep into their lifespan. Games like GT and Halo and Super Mario (flagship type games) can really impact the sale of consoles to the "Real world market". However those games need huge ad camps to get the word out and the hype up. The problem with the wild predictions on sales are that some people can not differenciate between the internet and the real world. When you spend all your time on a site dedicated to something specific (ex: video games, ect...) you get focused in on the minority and lose touch with how things really work.

@shock182,

to continue your thought. When GT5 hits there will be 30 million PS3s sold to consumers. If 20% of the people that have a PS3 purchase GT5 that is 6 million in sales. Now tell me folks, how many of the PS3 enthusiasts arent also GT5 enthusiasts. It isnt like when Halo 3 hit and there were like 11 million 360 owners and what did Halo 3 do. It sold maybe 500,000 extra consoles from September through the end of 2007. The majority of the consoles sold because of Halo 3 were sold prior to Halo 3 launch. This is the case and even more so with GT5 because the PS3 will be around 30 million consoles sold as well as GT5:Prologue also causing GT5 fans to purchase a PS3.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

GT5 will be released this year? it's news to me....

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

If it isnt then its impact will just continue to dwindle.

I suspect that sony will release Gran Turismo near Christmas so extra boost in sales.
