Forums - Gaming - No, FFXIII will not be downgraded like GTAIV.

Actually from what we know it is likely that GTAIV was limited by two things.  Space, and memory on the PS3.  In fact when the game was delayed most speculation indicated it was due to PS3 issues.

Fortunately, as a linear RPG, FFXIII wont have any space problems (especially as MS are no doubt removing additional disc fees for this game), meaning now it's just the PS3 messing us around.

thats not true because japanese version it's almost ready, and FF13 did not have memory issues, this is developed for the ps3 after all.

if delayed because they are having problems with the ports since the japanase version it's already done.

How do you know that FFXIII had no memory issues?  Most developers tend to agree that if the PS3 has one bottleneck it is memory, just as they agree that if the Xbox 360 has one it is disk space.

What we do know is that FFXIII is being developed on a PC platform due to the nature of Crystal Tools then being ported to both PS3 and Xbox 360.

because the memory issues only happen the 360 way of developing of throwing things into memory and don't care about the outcome.

its a PC engine, all games are develop on a pc engine now, crystals tools its lead platform its ps3 that its the pc engine doens't mean it for PC games. nomura explain so himself, and the japanese game it's done if the english version its delayed it's the 360 port, doubtful its the localization if so my having problems finding voice actors.

with ps3 you have to allocate thinks from the start graphic memory to the GPU and XDR memory to the system.

Lol. At the first thing you said. That may be what crappy developers did at the beginning of the development cycle, but it is NOT what happens anymore with any talented developer. At the end of the day the PS3 simply has less memory and less flexibility in how it is used.

I agree that this does not mean the game is being developed for the PC. But it DOES mean that it will be as easy or easier to port to the Xbox 360 as it is the PS3. The engine being used is designed for multiplatform games.

the thing is its being ported from PS3 -> 360 , it was being first optimized for the ps3. and the ps3 its version its months away, actually no 360 it's starting til the english version  on the ps3 it's finish its crazy to do all the animations again when its likely when they use the same architecture.

it have the same amount of memory the difference it's how it's used, 256mb of the ps3 are not left unused, but when first developed for the console there is not such problem when to taken  care in the software engineering plan.

and even it's easier to port it 360 due it ram architecture being able to eat up whatever it throw at it, a port may delay it since its being doing after the localization.

crystals tools even if it's a multiplatform engine it was first optimized for the ps3 and it was using only 4 Spu's.

Yeah i don't think FF13 is getting delayed because of the 360.

And i demand more mass effect 2 threads from you!!! We need to hype this game the proper way like sony does!!!!

No, not at all... it's just that the when the PS3 version is done it won't be released until the 360 development that isn't even going on ATM is done.. no, not delayed at all... right?

hmm ok well i respectfully admit that i am wrong then.

Wonder why they don't just make the game for both systems at the same time, or release the PS3 version when its done and then release the 360 version when they are finished with that...way to shaft the sony fans knowing that their version is done, and having to painfully wait until the 360 version is finished.  Kinda stupid if you ask me...

Not me I will be importing the Japanese version since all ps3's are "not" region locked.

Oh there will be Mass Effect 2 threads dont you worry.

But I am waiting a while, due too my concerns that the Xbox 360 version may be downgraded to allow for a PC port.

i lol'd

It's not more memory capable. On the contrary. It just has shared memory which makes it more memory flexible. Ps3 has an equal amount of ram and half of them perform at twice the speed. So that would be the more capable one.

256MB or 512MB for graphics. The choice is easy which one is more capable.

every people would love to see any computer or console work w/out ram for the CPU... that would be awesome (sarcasm)

if you use all to graphics the CPU and the rest is doing what? drinking coffee and call her girlfriends to talk about britney?

memory is needed to CPU always ... if the CPU can loan some to GPU it might be a little but not all for that i am sure and i learn that in first day in computer class

well, logically speaking, if you would use common sense, i'm sure I implied somewhere or somewhat that the 360 has up to 512MB and that PS3 can only have up to 256MB of dedicated memory for graphic. There, is that obvious enough?

There is a long history of devs complaining about the PS3's memory situation. Frankly, both consoles are bottle-necked in memory.
