Forums - Sales - Halo Wars Beats KZ2 According To NPD.

MS delayed the US Halo Wars release a few days so that all of it's sales would be in the March NPD. It was a smart move

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

according the the chartz here they have sold the same amount in america ltd. They are both at .69 million in america with killzone 2 about 300k ahead worldwide.

should be interesting to see how well these games hold up, it's brand name versus quality (although, imo I think halo wars was better, didn't really care for killzone 2 but it got much better reviews.)

(323K + 296K) + ~10% for other America = ~681k

Plus 16 days of sales in April, should be well beyond 700K for just Americas by now. I think that's a nice result.

The game is popular in Europe as well (where it beat Halo Wars in most countries), adding some Japan figures for the future it should easily go past 2 million.

You'd hope it would go a long way past two million.  It was meant to massively shift consoles and did not.  Based on some of the rumoured development budgets, it's still conceivable the game won't make a profit.

In fact this is particularly likely given all the bundling that's occured.

Please the only bundle is in Europe and both know that it isn't the primary SKU. Much like the Gears of War 2 and Call of Duty: World at War bundles in Europe are not the primary 360 SKUs.

Who said it was "massively" meant to shift consoles? KZ2 DID shift some consoles, and not very many people thought it would even do that.

Stop with the damage control buddy.  The game was hyped to hell and you know it.  For years it was listed in every fanboy's wetdream of PS3 exclusives that would bring it back out in front of the Xbox 360.  As it was, it shifted about 20k units noticeably.

It was hyped to be a fantastic game, which it is. It was hyped to sell well, which it has.

I don't think any sound minded person would ever think one game would change the tide.

I don't think the the PS3 has a substantial FPS fan base outside of Call of Duty...the KZ2 sells are good and will continue to grow...but the reality is that 360 has a way bigger FPS fan base and it's apparent...What is shocking is that Halo Wars an RTS found such a huge reception when other like universe at war...Bombed...Region Japan America Others Total

Some comparison numbers for KZ2...

There is what an 8 million sales lead in America? So a game that has HALO in its name sells 300K more in a territory with 8 million more consoles sold......that's just devastating. Sony had better just throw in the towel. RTS or not, its a Halo game. People will buy it because of the setting alone. America is the 360s saving grace. Without our blind spending practices, the 360 would be doing horribly considering its launch lead.

Looking at your VGChartz money it's not hard to figure out you're hardly the most trustworthy source for data analysis.

I have a little challenge if you want to accept it.  Find me the biggest selling RTS on the PS2 (a console with considerably more userbase than the 360), I'd be interested to know how this compares sales wise right now and of course in the future.  A RTS game selling this fast is impressive, just give it some credit and stop being bitter.

I was banned because a bunch of idiots thought I was racist. Not that its hard to get banned from here. You do however miss the point. Its not just an RTS, It is a HALO rts. Big difference when you are talking about the game thats sells millions everytime and isnt very good. It became a hit with the first and has been riding its coat tales on name recognition since.

Halo not very good...lol thats cute.

Hey John Remember this?

After months of speculation, Sony's supposed "Halo-killer" is finally revealed.

By 1UP Staff  01/01/2000

If nothing else, Killzone will go down in history for drawing more hype prior to its announcement than any game to date. Finally, however, rumor has given way to hard facts. Yes, Sony Europe has commissioned an original, exclusive first-person shooter for PS2, and yes, it does look rather like Sony's answer to Halo. Amsterdam-based Guerrilla Games is technically making its debut with Killzone, but its work shows a polish that belies its absent track record.

Like Halo, Killzone is a story-driven first-person shooter, but in this future, the only enemy is man. Separatist rebels, the Helghast, have declared war against the ISA, forces loyal to humanity's home on Earth. You command a team of four ISA soldiers behind enemy lines, selecting one team member to control while fighting alongside the others through 26 levels. That gives Killzone serious replay value, because you could play at least once with each character while also exploring multiple paths through each mission. All four team members have distinctive abilities, and their arsenal comprises 21 weapons equipped with a secondary fire option. And even if you get bored with the single-player game, full-blown online combat is in the works.

Killzone's most striking aspect so far is its layered environments. Guerrilla's engine adds remarkable depth to every area, from lush jungles to bombed-out shopping malls. For its part, Sony is supplying top-notch production values, with a cast of professional voice actors to accompany the story- driven presentation.

One question remains: Is it coming to the United States? The answer: It better be. Sony CEA is keeping quiet, but we expect to hear word well before the game's release in Europe next March.
