Forums - Nintendo - Reggie promises a better E3 from Nintendo this year ... again

I rememerd last year, either before or after e3 they said that there weren't going to be any major announcements at e3 since it was goint to be mostly be business. but guess they did changed their minds after last years disaster (mainly because of cammie).

i'm just going to go with sean malstrom on this.

he said in different articles about how nintendo thought that microsoft and/or sony was going to try to compete in the expanded audience against nintendo around e3 08, so nintendo tried to combat this with wii motion plus and tons of expanded audience titles.

what happened was the expected competition from the hd consoles never came, they simply declared continued war between each other, so nintendo could now rest for a while.

he then said e3 09 this year will make the core more happy simply because nintendo doesn't have to worry about the expanded audience right now, so they can work on the core side for a little while.

I liked last years E3 , got few games announced, Wii Motion + etc. etc. it was pretty good, as good as Sony or MS. But then im a casual gamer....

It seems pessimism is a better option to be prepared

We can only wait and see, but the evidence points towards the positive, rather than the negative.

Based on track record I think the negative is more likely than the positive but hopefully Nintendo will shock me.

"Evidence" in this case relates to the facts of what we know, namely that we know there are Factor 5 projects in the works, and which have been in the works for some time. Equally we know of a new Pikmin game in the works, we know of new Retro Studios titles that have been in the works since 2007. We know HAL Labs has to be working on something, we know of Sin & Punishment 2, we know of Spirit Tracks now.

Now, they could choose not to show any of these, but then what the hell would they show?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I really don't expect anything from E3. The past few have been shit, i don't see how this year will be any different.

How technical is your game?

I think there will be some good 3rd party announcements made at this years' E3, utilising WM+ in loads of different ways.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

He also said the next step is to move the Core audience into the Expanded market.

Along with that he said the hardcore hysteria has not peaked with E3 2008, and it's gonna be much worse when Nintendo shows their new legacy IP games. He's mentioned that briefly, but I've read the books he's read and I completely agree with him, which is why I'm trying to warn people.

But seriously, for the longest time now almost nobody at all will listen, everybody wants to believe E3 2009 is gonna be everything they're hoping, which is basically heavenly perfection. It's like the universe really does want everybody to be "heartbroken". All I can do is respect that now, but don't say I haven't tried.

They better announce something good, dammit! >_>
