I feel you, but for GT5 to sell 10 mil, either half of the current userbase would have to buy it, or it would have to move a shitload of hardware. Unless the userbase greatly increases before it is released. I'm not saying it cant happen, cause again I have never followed the series, but I just dont know. I still think FF has the best chance because it performs so well in all regions. But then again, I guess GT does also. I mean, Prologue sold like 3 mil not including the PSN copies, so.....

I never heard of anyone talking bout making a GT movie.  I have never seen GT logos on mountain dew and burger king advertisements.

GT is not and will never be more popular than halo.

User base doesn't matter in this argument.  Gran Turismo is more popular.  Deal with it.

 

 

Great i love how you state it is more popular without stating any facts like i just did, and YES userbase does infact matter in this argument.  Tell me does any of the GT games have over 1 MILLION unique players playing each day...no it doesn't!! so how bout instead of just stating it like a fact back it up with PROOF that its more popular, take off your fanboy glasses and look around.

You won't understand that Gran Turismo is flat out 'more' popular....A percentage is not going to give you an accurate number.  Raw numbers will show that Gran Turismo series sells more copies and is more popular than any Halo game.  Gran Turismo doesn't have online or hasn't released statistics for it.  You don't need to play Gran Turismo online either.  Most players would probably prefer off-line mode.

The proof is in the pudding, kid.   14,000,000 Gran Turismo 3 players say that it's more popular (By far) than ANY Halo installation.

Are you honestly that blind?!?!? of course GT3 would sell 14 million since over 120 million ps2's were in the world!!! point is if the 360 had and install base of 120 million Halo 3 would have probably sold WAY WAY past that.   I can GARAUNTEE that GT5 will NEVER sell as much as halo 3.  And do you know why???? FF XIII should do it across all platforms. PS3 only sales should be around 2 million worldwide for the first week I would say.
As nuch as I love God of war, realistically speaking I think it will be lucky to sell over a million in the first week worldwide.

God of War will probably hit 500K on the first week. Its not quite as popular as you think. Also that genre hasn't been doing great this generation.

Do you really believe FF13 will sell more than double the 360? What PS3 game has sold twice as many copies as a 360 game? Even popular Capcom games only have a lead of about 200K tops. The PS3 version will most likely sell more but not by that much. 360 owners are also hungry for a good RPG so we might be surprised by what number it pulls in.

I also noticed a lot of people are mentioning GT5. GT3 sold a ton of copies over time and the PS2 was getting record sales. GT4 on the otherhand sold about 5 million less copies when the PS2 had already sold 100 million consoles. With that said said PS3 is a much smaller userbase and is not growing at the rapid pace of the PS2. So I'm not expecting the same outstanding sales.

There were about 12 million PS2s when GT3 was released... Actually it seems to be pretty close to how many 360s there were when Halo 3 was released.

yeah but u cant compare FF with any other PS vs Xbox game...FF XIII will easily do 2 mill in the first week and that only in japan...then add the europe and american sales and u got 3-4 mill first week....on the xbox this will maybe do 750.000 - mill 1st week and that only cos of the americans...still i think FF XIII will sell more on the ps in america than the xbox

2 million in Japan? Either you think 2/3 PS3 owners will buy the game or it'll move a ton of hardware.

It's safe to say that 360 will cut into some of those sales considering its the same game on a cheaper console. The four best selling 360 games in Japan are RPGs and they have given the console a boost in sales at the time of their release. FF13 will do the same.

The Xbox 360 may seem like a failure in Japan but look at it this way. The PS3 has 3 times as many owners as the 360. But in the last gen the PS2 had about 20 times as many owners as the original Xbox. Not so bad in that perspective, right?
