Forums - Sales - Japan Up!!!

I am. I've never felt so pissed about Nintendo as I am today. There's nothing being done well, nothing. No games for 7 months with the exceptions of GC ports and Trace Memory which sold 15k. And none coming until June. This is hilarious, I don't know if I should laugh, curse or cry. Any of them is appropriate.

Well Trestres there are few JRPG's coming in next few weeks, but i do agree the lack of Software is what makes Wii hardware sales so low, they really need to start bundling big games with the console like MH III later this year.

Go PS3

Nice PS3 numbers again, 360 holding steady, Wii terrible but understandable.

@Lolcis: Yet none of those will sell remotely well,, trust me. There's not an audience for those games. Almost no actual Wii owner will be buying one and not many people will be willing to buy a Wii over new IP's. The Wii needed a big core game to attract more possible hardcore gamers, but sadly it hasnt had one yet, and wont for a very long time. MHG will do nothing, proof http://vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=1987342 so you can caount that one out. Then the small niche RPGs like ARF, Kizuna and Muramasa wont have any effect on SW and will sell relatively bad.

Nintendo had to think about this, how in the hell could they think that relying only on casuals was the way to go? They are alive thanks to core gamers, they cant forget about them. PS2 and DS are mega successful because they cater to both audiences, but so far no core gamer will be willing to buy a Wii in Japan when all the other consoles offer 100 times more content and quality. It's simple, Wii is destined to have it's worst year ever because of negligence of Nintendo and 3rd parties. Nintendo should have moneyhatted and also developed more games. This could have been avoided 100%, and Wii could have been up YoY. Now you cant change this, no one is hyped over anything Wii releated in Japan, so sales will continue to drop. I think that we will see sub 10k sales pretty soon.

I never thought I would see a meltdown from a Wii fan this gen but...wow. It's also funny to me that after the Wii has dominated Japan for 2 years straight it's now boring when another console passes them for a few weeks. I hope the PS3 can put up a fight for a bit longer.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

@Goddbless: A meltdown now is stating the truth? You are new to forums right? Welcome to VGChartz!

I think trestres is being over-the-top on purpose. There's no reason to think that the Wii will dip below 10K/week in Japan for the next couple years, at the least, and JRPGs are big in Japan -- they will drive some hardware.

The PS2 is still widely supported, in the local-to-Japan JRPG sense, which is probably the major reason the Wii's sales have slowed down. It doesn't have the value to make it a worthwhile purchase to the legions of JRPG, Yakuza, RE, etc. fans... yet. The PS3 is riding the wave of a lot of cool Japanese-centric titles, like Y3 and Biohazard/RE 5, and will sustain itself with a number of cool new JRPGs this year, but the Wii will also get a shot in the arm.

That being said, the moment SO4 is announced as coming to the PS3, the X360 is dead in Japan, unless MS does something about, and fast.

Can Nintendo handle the success of the Wii and keep the momentum going? Tune in next week to the hiphopgamer show to find out.........

I'm not over the top... The Wii sold 15k according to MC this week, it's going lower and lower. Plus I didnt say sustained sub 10k sales, I said it will go as low as that. Can you read the market? Do you know where to look at when making a prediction? Tell me when is the next big thing going to be released for the Wii to avoid such happening. Hint: It's not in the first half.
