Forums - Gaming - Forget the Ps3 10 Year Plan -- NINTY feels the WII CAN LAST LONG Too!!

Motion plus may appeal to the average customer enough, just recently my sister said how cool it would be if Zelda had realistic sword movement.

Edit: Not that their next console will be anything like that. They won't upgrade the box until there's a user experience that requires more processing power in the box, until then they'll just keep improving the user experience with add-ons etc.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

Wii60 baby! Around for 11 years and 1 day!

Go Wii!

This is not a surprise. Winning consoles stay on the market the longest.

I really think too many people are overestimating the significance of Motion Plus.

To gamers, it delivers what many thought they were buying two years ago only to discover that gestures were essentially being translated into analog button presses, regardless of how much more satisfying it is to swing a remote around, pantomime style.

Most Wii owners will probably give you a blank stare if you tell them the Wii doesn't do 1:1 motion controls without an explanation of what the difference is. In otherwords, most aren't even aware that there's some sort of deficiency in the way the Wii handles motion controls as is.

Personally, I think it can greatly improve the limits of what developers can do for user interfaces in games, but I'm going to say that most will be buying it to play Wii Sports Resort as many of those bought the Wii to play Wii Sports.

You're using the fallacy that casual/ordinary users are stupid users. They may not appreciate the term 1:1, but if they've played any of the games that attempt to use a sword or something like that, they know well enough that it isn't an accurate reflection of what you do with the Wii remote. All you have to do is replace the term "1:1" with "proper sword fighting", or "proper tennis controls" and it'll be appealing to many.

As for gamers, isn't that precisely the reason people were excited? So now it will finally realized, it's worth getting excited about it again.

i think is more possible for the wii to last longer than the ps3

i think they're going to release something like "Wii Plus " or "Super Wii " or "WiiCare"

@maynard

obviously

The winning console of a generation always lasts longer

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I like Super Wii.

But WiiCare makes me laugh.

And I'll withhold my excitement over Motion Plus until after I've played Sports Resort, and after we start seeing quality titles that fully use it. Motion Plus would be required for starters.

If say NMH2 were Motion Plus required and it played even better than the original, all would be forgiven.

Unfortunately, Punch Out! is being released before Motion Plus, meaning it will use preset animations with motions for button presses and will possibly just be a very slick reinterpretation of a long absent classic (where's Super Punch Out! on VC?!)
