Just throwing this out here to think about. Dr Kawashimi's Brain Training. It brought that whole section of gaming into the mainstream and vastly opened up the gaming community.

While it may not be the most interesting change in the gaming industry, it is undeniably one of the biggest.

I'm kinda surprised that no one has even given Doom a honourable mention yet. And good call by Kitchensink on Wii Sports. It probably leaves a bad taste in a lot of hardcore's mouths to even mention Wii Sports along side Super Mario Bros or Pac-man, but it's hard to argue the impact it's having this gen.
