graphics don't matter

online doesn't matter

no HDTV

prefer adventure and RPGs

Cheap system very cheap games

you won't go wrong with the PS2 tbh

and since you have a PC i'm guessing you already have all the good HD multiplatform games that are on the 360 (COD - Fallout - even L4D and Mass Effect)

so unless you really want to play Halo or Gears I guess you are not in a rush to get a 360 now

that's how I see it anyway

No, my PC is very standard. But I agree with you about the rest...

Get a backwards compatible PS3 and buy PS2 games.  Then you're HD ready but in no dire need for the newest games.

Then good luck finding one of those.

Not to mention that a PS2+360 combo is far cheaper than a used PS3 with BC.

ps2 is the best choise

what's the point of go backwards? just a waste of money, probably soon or later you will get a HDTV and maybe want to try the online, in my opinion if you get a ps2 waste of money, if you get a 360 investment, and by the way you can find a lot of 360 games nowadays for 16 dollars or less...nway it's up to you!

That is what I am afraid of. BUT did you own a PS2? How do you know is not worthy?

You know, I had a Psone. And really loved games like Resident Evil Nemesis, Dino Crisis, Gran Turismo I and II, Final Fantasy VIII and IX, Tekken, etc. Last generation I got busy and didn´t played games. But in those days there were news about the next machine, the PS2. And I did wanted to get it, I just lost interest in gaming.(I had other stuff going on in my life)

I got some GameCube Games. Only one was really good for me, Resident Evil, the remake. The rest, in spite of the good reviews, I did not like them...

I am afraid I get dissapointed if I go "back in time" with the PS2. Gaming is sometimes so related with the moment of your life when you play that really too few games are timeless classics. Is like some of the music you loved when you were a teenager, now you just cannot put up with it.

This Generation I loved RE 4, Zelda Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy. The shooters, were fine, specially COD WAW. No good RPG, IMO, no good racing games... I guess Wii owners are screwed. I mean, the machine did its job: to convert my wife and son to this religion. But now I need more to myself.

It is not like I don't care about graphics, I would be lying, but gameplay, and good games, are more important.

360. Achievements are where it's at.

@Wii_R2_Hardcore

Ignore people that claim that PS2 games are magically unenjoyable because it's from the previous generation. I play PS2 games all the time and they're as much fun as ever. The best time to buy a console is late in its lifespan when its cheap and there are tonnes of games to choose from. Now is as good a time as any to buy the best system ever. Until the 360 gets action games that match God of War, stealth games that match Metal Gear Solid 3, action/adventure games that match Okami, JRPs that match Dragon Quest VIII, etc... I'd say that the PS2 has the most to offer. Finally, the claims that the 360 will continue to get great games for years may not be true. If the original Xbox is any indicator then the 360 will get dropped like a hot potato once the Xbox Trinity is released.

Really?  'far' cheaper?   Hardly.   By the time you get PS2 accessories and possible 360 accessories you are easily spending as much or more.  Plus you get more franchises that remained on Playstation with a PS3 than you would with a 360.    And, it's all self contained in one unit.  No swapping.

PS2

Easily PS2. The 360 has live as a huge asset, and it's nota s good without it.

The PS2 has one of the best library in the history of videogames. It's a must, really.
