PS2 games upscaled on the PS3 look super sharp. If the Wii simply did this, I'd be more than happy! Some Wii games look pretty dull on my LCD (but not my sis' plasma).
Very interesting, but I'm fine with the Wii graphics already...

Nintendo still doomed?

Emulators are not upscalers, they are simply told to render the output at that image resolution. Dolphin has been worked on for a long time now, it used to be a Gamecube emulator project, and since Wii didn't really change the hardware architecture, emulating Wii games was only a matter of making the Wiimote work with PCs which has also been done for almost 2 years now. If you have a Wii, that's the best Wii and GC experience you'd have, don't bother with Dolphin since a lot of the rendering has artifacts and glitches and some games don't even work or simply run at crappy speeds.
As far as upscaling goes, I personally use a HD Box Pro which has component inputs to vga and it does anywhere from 480p-1200p( although it's more like 1080p view size with black bars on WS monitors.)

They're not upscaled, they're probably rendered at a higher resolution (as WereKitten explained). The 360 does the same to Xbox games.
For the Wii to do the same, it would need a more powerful GPU capable of rendering in HD, which would probably mean games would already be HD anyway.

Despite the name, the sensor bar isn't actually a sensor at all. It emits a pair of IR beams at a specific distance apart, but the actual sensing is done in the Wii Remote. Anything else which emits IR at this distance can be used in place of the sensor bar: people have used holiday lights and even candles.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

So, if these games look better in 720p, more evidence for Wii Hd?
Heavens to Murgatoids.

not gonna happen, would be a new console next time around.

hm... looks better on this monitor than my TV... but... that's not saying much when you're comparing a 21" fullscreen monitor to a 42" widescreen one.
