I saw the promo information for Free Realms.   My take on it is that it appears to be everything that Home is not, and looks set to be a major socializing hub for Sony and PS3 owners.  Unless Home, it looks like it supports user generated content and will have a LOT of things to do.  In one sense, Sony brings what is seen on Second Life to the PS3.  Throw in also the ability to do RPGing.  Looks like it will be free also (well, there are micropayments, and subscription to not get ads).

So, I am curious if anyone else had opinions here on this.  I held out hope for Home, but Free Realms looks like it might deliver.

It could be a blank grey box with dancing bananas and I would prefer it to Home, to be honest. As long as you don't have to download and install every area whenever the game updates, and then load it.

Home is just a giant clusterfuck of fail. They took something that actually could have been something really good and something that could have set the PS3 apart from everything else but instead made a dull lifeless world.

I don't really trust SOE, at all, but Free Realms looks interesting at least.

I don't know if it's really fair to compare Home to it since Home is supposed to be a social networking think and Free Realms is a casual MMO with social networking features.

Free Realms > Home.

Why does it sort of look like WoW btw?

Well the whole Xi in Home thing has kept me somewhat interested... Hopefully there will be some prizes or something for it, otherwise I'm just wasting time... I probably am anyway. =/

That said, Free Realms looks interesting for sure. I just don't want to get sucked into another MMORPG...

well both are free and if you really have to use MMO u can choose,

generally it's not my thing.

the decent have monthly payment and i will never pay for online.

MMO=/= Social Networking advert space.

I think Home will become better as more spaces are introduced and Sony addresses some of the glaring issues.

The new Xi mystery in Home has kept me very interested in the application over the last week, and it seems that this game in the HUB is going to lead to something big. All the hate on Home is a freaking joke. Sure the application has been around for ages on paper, and we don't have a lot to show for it, but remember it is free. Plus Home is only as good as the support it gets from 3rd party companies. To this point that has been minimal, but the ball is starting to get rolling pretty good now. I figure we ain't seen nothing yet as far as Home is concerned.

With Free Relms I am up in the air about. It seems to be just another MMORPG, and that is something I have a hard time getting into. Given that it is free, I will give it a chance, and who knows, mabye I will really like it. For the time being I will not say one way or another about this game, as it is not even close to being out.
