I may buy one. I sold mine when I got my launch ps3, but now I fear that my ps3 could crap out on me and I won't be able to get another BC one from Sony.

My BC ps3 crapped out. Sony sent me the same 60gb model brand new to boot. I think it's also required by US law or something so you don't need a ps2.

Mine crapped out on me (the disc drive's motor broke so no discs would spin, lol) and I got a refurbed 60gb back (looked brand new except for some scuff marks on the side).  I'm honestly not all that worried about it.  For every person that sends there's in and gets another one back, they can then refurbish that person's system and ship it to somebody else.

At worst, I'd just have to wait a bit longer than usual while they refurbish my own system.

I'm still waiting on sony to send me a refurb 60gb. Seems like it has taken forever.

Ouch.  It only took me ~2 weeks.

@MM its quite likely that Sony gives a higher margin on the PS2 to keep it on the shelves as the software sales are winding down.

Tease.

The IGN link is from 2003. -_-

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

Perfect. I'll pick one up to install in my car. A silver one to match no doubt.

There still might be some life left in ye ole girl.

How is it that this made it to the 3rd page without anybody noticing that? I think we all just assumed it was true because it seemed like something that could logically happen.Hilarious.

It is true (as far as I know).  In the original neogaf thread, they OP mentioned that it had been "a long time coming" and linked to that article to show jsut how damn long ago this had been predicted.

Everything else, however, is legite.  The guy is a long-time and rather well-known neogaf poster.  He mentioned the latest circulars he's seen, and that is all.

What's ironic, though, is that my boss has been convinced of a ps3 price cut for months now.  Three weeks ago, he comes in the store and goes "Did you hear?  They finally annoucnced a date for that ps3 price cut!"  "Oh yeah?"  "Yeah.  April 5th!"

I rolled my eyes at him, because I had heard nothing about this anywhere, and also because I knew that a ps3 price drop was highly unlikely.  And now I find out about this.  Well, he got the date right!

I think I might buy one, if I buy brand new and keep everything in the box, that $100 could turn into $1000 15 - 20 years down the road if it's sold on Ebay. The PS2 does have the biggest and best video game library of all.

I don't think that will ever happen b/c there are way too many ps2 out there.

That's what I thought too, but then I checked Ebay for the NES, and there were some sealed in the box brand new selling for up to $2000. I'm sure someone will pay over $1000 to get there hands on a PS2 in 15 - 20 years.

thats big news for sony i'll pick one up to play my ps12 games now that i got rid of my ps3

                                                                      Play Me

i wanted ps3 price cut :(

Somewhere down the line I'm sure they'll drop it to around 50$. Shit I'll pick one up then just for the heck of it....

So would I.

Even though I have a PS3...

So I'd just be staring at it everyday, wondering why the hell I actually bought it. But at that price, it would be so hard to resist.
