And yet because of that it still can't sell on Call of Duty and Halo levels.  It gets there because of it's accessible gameplay and built up brand but suffers from its violence.  However if it was on the violence level of say Manhunt or Madworld, it would be even less.  Once again case and point.

I'm sorry but games like Gears of War and God of War are just as violent as MadWorld and Manhunt. The tone of the games different. (MH/MadWorld are a bit more sadistic)

But you still chainsaw people and you still, with bare hands, remove limbs from the body.

Haha you have not played Manhunt 2 and it shows.

What? I know you can strangle and torture people. (using the wii motion makes said things very gruesome).

They both fall into the same category.

Exactly my point.  There is so much more in that, that describing it would probably get me banned haha.

The action of you doing doesn't make the game itself more violent.

I never even said anything along those lines so I don't get why that would be your response.  Look up some FAQs or watch the videos.  I can see Madworld on a similar level of Gears of War or God of War but not Manhunt 2.  With or without Wiimote controls that game is still the most violent and suggestive game I've ever played.  And the only game I've ever traded in because I couldn't handle the violence.  But even with Madworld and Gears of War having similar violence ranges, the point is that Gears isn't about how much you can brutalize somethign else.  Everything in Madworld is about how brutal can you make your kills.  That gives it the niche violence just like Manhunt 2 had.  That's what separates it from a hack and slash like God of War or a shooter like Gears.

That's why I said earlier that the actions are similar but the tone is different.

MadWorld and Manhunt 2 are killing for the sake of brutality and more killing.

Gears and GoW both have a bit more purpose and brutality is the focus of the game.

@DjMeister
Another debate about madworld sales?

The game is doing well why sony fanboys keep bashing it?

It's in the weekly top ten on the wii besides the PAL problems of Black bars,50Hz plus big franchises releases like resident evil 5.

But what else to say to bitter tears fanboys. Do you really want to know wahy sega and platinum games prefered Wii for MadWorld? Yeah check Valkyria Chronicles and compare the sales to No More Heroes. Join the Wanat fan group and keep on bashing the Wii instead of playing good games on your PlayStation 3.

So keep your pearls of (un)wisdom and try MadWorld you may like it.

Well, before I forget to do it : The performances of this week's new releases :

In the UK All-Format chart for this week (All-Price, the one Chart-Track comments on) :

  • "Wheelman" begins in place 11.
  • "Afro Samurai" takes the place 33. Not bad for an anime based game. Of course, it had to be a really violent one ...

In the UK PS3 chart for this week :

  • "Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3", apparently a late release, is the highest new entry, in place 6.
  • "Wheelman" begins in place 7.
  • "Rock Band 2" starts in place 14. It seems like the 360 version has been released at the beginning of the month, and hasn't been able to chart.
  • "Afro Samurai" takes the place 15.
  • "Buzz: Brain of the UK" begins in place 29.

In the UK 360 chart for this week :

  • "Wheelman" begins in place 7.
  • "Afro Samurai" takes the place 12.
  • "Stormrise" starts in place 35. In the same time, a RTS based on a new IP on a console, that was quite suicidal. At least, no one can accuse Sega not to try.

In the UK Wii chart for this week :

  • "Pro Evolution Soccer 2009" begins in place 9, just below "Madworld". I would have expected a little better from such a franchise.
  • "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time" starts in place 36. Well, same comment than above, but in worse.
  • Not new releases, but "Sonic and the Black Knight" remains in the top 5. "Sonic Unleashed" is not that far behind, in place 14.

In the UK DS chart for this week :

  • "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time" starts in place 36, just like its Wii counterpart.

In the UK PS2 chart for this week :

  • "Monsters vs Aliens" begins in place 10.
  • "Mania Khemia: Alchemists of Al-Revis" starts in place 11. I never thought it would be able to chart. That's quite a relief.
  • "Buzz: Brain of the UK" begins in place 12.
  • "Rock Band 2" takes the place 15. It was released algonside the PS3 version.

In the UK PC chart for this week :

  • "Battleforge" begins in place 20.
  • Not a new release, but the "Last Remnant" climbs 2 places, up to rank 18. I'm in awe. There might be a future for JRPG on PC.

No new entry in the PSP chart.

Rockband 2 on 360 is available since 21 november of 2008, so since the week 47 of 2008:

http://www.chart-track.co.uk/index.jsp?c=p%2Fsoftware%2Fuk%2Farchive%2Findex_test.jsp&ct=110027&arch=t&lyr=2008&year=2008&week=47

and has charted in place 17 in the UK 360 chart.

I don't see why people are saying Pro Evo had a bad debut just because of the UK numbers. The series isn't even that strong in the United Kingdom since the country generally prefers Fifa.

It didn't stop PS3' and X360' versions of PES to take both first and second place in UK when they debuted. An estimated 189k (185k for X360 and PS3 versions) for a debut week in UK isn't bad result either. Even if Fifa can claim more than twice more units.

Sure, it would have been different if PES Wii have been released alongside with PS3/X360/PC versions. Still, its debut is an utter failure.

So are we finally done believing Madworld will have legs? lol. that was a dumb belief from jump.

Should it have been a PS360 game? It would have sold tons better.

Yea because niche stylized games sell so well on PS360.

Well, obviously they don't sell that well on the Wii *cough* NMH *cough* so one would think that Sega would try their luck on the PS360 instead...

The game didn't sell well to you. But it sold well enough to Suda. Any guess on whose word we'll take!?

Yeah cause 400k (VGC) is awesome *rolls eyes*

Breaking even isn't good enough.  Do you watch the news?  The econonmy is horrible.  People need to make profit, not break even.  What's the point of funding something just to sell 'well' or break even?  Games need to sell good, great, excellent.  Doing 'good' is really doing 'bad' when companies are laying people off left and right.

Wow, giving No More Heroes as an example, well done. Another cell shaded violent game. *claps*
You have "forgotten" a few things though

1) The game is still selling well, see UK all prices chart
2) 400k sales will earn the publisher(s) some $10 million, which should be more than enough to make a nice profit (nothing staggering, absolutely, but no-one expects enormous profits from such a game)
3) A sequel has been announced
4) A party has been thrown to celebrate the sales of the game
5) It's the best selling game of that producer, despite having similarly niche products on the mighty PS2

Please troll a little bit more intelligent next time. I know you can do it. Or better: stop trolling at all. MadWorld might bomb it might not (imo it will reach 500k, which will be a success, again nothing enormous, but still a success).

In case you keep insisting: please show me equivalent games on PS360 that have shown these amazing sales, driven by the enormous hardcore userbase.
