Forums - Sales - And the winner is ==> Metroid Prime 3 !!!

Yeah, seriously, I upgraded from Gamecube RE4 to Resident Wiivil and I already almost have the handcannon again. I would say I am at least 75 to 100 percent more accurate than I was before, I literally almost NEVER miss a shot, and I go almost exclusively for headshots. Prime 3 is the same deal, I'm more accurate than Prime 1 or 2, and you didn't even really have to aim in 1 and 2 with the lock-on system.

Article is NOT misleading.
This thread is - and its actually wrong.

It simply says that Metroid sold more copies than Bioshock for the same week - i.e. Metroid week#1 > Bioshock week#2.

My guess for Bioshock week#2 is 100k-150k (maybe less if its still sold out in places) - so this doesn't say much at all.

Again - I'll be shocked if MP3 gets close to 400k-500k week#1. MP2 sold 300k in its first MONTH.

Well, Wii is definitely more successful, and it's the first real epic game in a while for the system. Plus, Nintendo was insane with MP2, they launched it against Halo 2. It didn't surprise me that it was demolished.

Both of these games are great, but as a whole, having played both, Mp3 deserves a win, though i doubt it will get it. The problem is forsee is Nintendo marketing the wii to the casual gamer as opposed to the 360 for the hardcore. Even when you take into account the 10 million wii owners out there, most of them seem to be more interested in WiiSports than an FPS, while the 10 million 360 owners are all gonna want to play Bioshock. I hope I am wrong, it would be real nice to see these "casual gamers" try a real game, and I would love for there first one to be a Metroid.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me too much to see Metroid Prime 3 outsell Bioshock's first week or LTD numbers in its first week. Metroid Prime is an established brand, on the ultra popular Wii, and has the first "excellent" FPS control setup for the Wii.

Title:

Metroid Prime 3 Outsells BioShock - Over 400,000 Copies

I don't know about you, but that's a tad misleading, no?

^Yup.

There are no numbers for Metroid Prime first week, or Bioshock second week. It may be saying things that MAY be correct, but shows no PROOF.

YAhh.

How about some numbers.

I love how this misinformation started with my American Weekly Sales article, and how the website combined it with Gamasutra's article on Amazon data.

Don't cite stuff if it makes no sense logically.  Prime 3 may well end up outselling Bioshock, but I doubt it did first week, simply because in the Americas, the 360 continues to have the larger userbase.

The website claiming that Metroid Prime 3 outsold Bioshock also was one of the websites claiming that Sony had sold 4.48 million PS3s to gamers by June 30, when in fact the number in Sony's financial report was 4.28 million PS3s shipped to retail by June 30.  Vgchartz is by no means perfect, but I like to think what we put up for data and sales trends is at least inherently coherent...unlike this article.

Here is a simple way to gauge the games acceptance. If you have the game, look to see how many people in your list also have the game. My list consists of mostly hardcore users, currently 48 out of 75 people on my list have the game. I added around 10 people from here from the "Metroid Prime 3 vouchers" thread. The rest were mostly friends. Also I noticed a few of the not so hardcore people on my list also have the game. The remaining 27 people either are too cheap to buy it at full price or aren't into FPS type games or haven't had a chance to pick it up yet. I'm guessing my list is a bit on the high side but still... compared to Strikers, there are way more people with Prime 3 on my list.
