Intel should be VERY careful. If AMD dies, they will lose the x86-64 license, which would mean the end of Core 2 and Core i7. Nice going intel.

Viva microsoft and his politic of monopol
Microsoft the first company who don't want to play the rules of competition
I know the country that dream Bill Gates : the USSR
One company for everybody, not matter it's the best or not !
Taken from the x86-64 article on wikipedia:
This has led to a case of mutually assured destruction should either company revoke its respective license. Should such a scenario take place, AMD would no longer be authorized to produce any x86 processors, and Intel would no longer be authorized to produce x86-64 processors, forcing them back to the now-obsolete 32-bit x86 architecture.

I would think AMD are safe for now.

You do know that Microsoft wasn't the first monopoly to exist, right?
Just off the top of my head, Rockefeller's Standard Oil controlled around 90% of that market, but I'd be willing to bet that he wasn't the first either. Please do at least a little research before making these kinds of statements.
patrice.... what?

I hope so. Intel should actually be focusing on Nvidia. For whatever stupid reason they're trying to create a x86 CPU without any licence at all. (afaik)
This should be interesting! I'm not sure how Intel will "force" AMD to stop producing x86 compat chips - its in the vested interest of everyone in the world that both companies continue to do so...
Gesta Non Verba
Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:
Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099
humour : a " word " that our communist friend in this forum don't understant...
so sad :)
Misleading title. If anything, Intel to kill AMD and itself in 60 days, unless they want everybody back to Pentiums.
