The way you calculate it is completely illogical. You can consider the sales to your product just by using the sales relative to your competition. It just doesn't make sense. Sony didn't earn money for 80k PS3 but for 30k PS3. Also, as Trios_zen stated, it's normal to be civil, when it's you and CGI-Quality posting 80% of the posts of the thread.

OT: Good sales all around.

What does that mean exactly? Anyone is free to chime in at any time, regardless of who was posting or who was in here, it was still in fact civil.

I was referring to how ugly these threads get sometimes. I thought it was nice, even if someone disagrees.

As for everything else, maybe I am wrong, but I still believe KZ2 still had an effect that goes beyond what it only seen in the final numbers. I also agree they only gained on 30k PS3's money-wise.

Maybe we look at it differently but for me it doesn't matter if "X" decided it was justified or if "X" person decided to pay $100 for no reason or if one was more readily available than the other.

All I see is that PS3 did in fact start off as a 2 SKU show and it still remains as a 2 SKU show. The prices between the 2 SKUs in comparison to their launch date counterparts is still only $100.

But that's just a PR theorycrafting approach. That's what car makers do: they advertise the car for 15.000$, restrict the availability of the cheaper version and use it as a hook to bait customers so the dealers can upsell them the 17.500$ version.

The truth is the vast majority paid 600$/€ for their ps3 at launch and after the introduction of the 40GB the vast majority paid 400$/€. And the sales numbers reflect that: before the cut the ps3 was trailing behind the biggest failures in the industry, after the huge 33% effective pricecut it reached a higher plateau.

You can argue semantics to support your argument but at retail, which is where it matters, the ps3 went from 600$/€ to 400$/€.

Also, how come you don't own Vesperia? Goddamn, they sell the game in your territory and pass on it... jrpg distribution in Europe, sigh.

Nice chart...although I think you got the numbers in reverse...lol still it is all good.

Oh fiddlesticks! >_< My bad!

Yeah... just switch those two phrases around... and we're good to go.

@Euphoria you can estimate the sales boost once the sales return to normal. The area of the graph above the trend line is the sales boost so you can work it out that way.

So how much exactly did the 360 drop by then seeing as how the Arcade makes up most of it's sales? Also, if the 40GB was selling so well, why would they discontinue it?

I have some reading to do.

I didn't pick up Vesperia because I have never been a Tales fan. I own Symphonia but I just couldn't get into the battle style. I then purchased Abyss, I was actually enjoying it but then Fable II showed up and then later on The Last Remnant.

I will pick it up eventually, but that would have to come after Star Ocean 4.

@Squilliam

I agree, it is just something else to talk about than the normal stuff around here. It makes it fun for me.

Do any of you realize that Halo Wars first week in NA will be in this weeks numbers? Therefore even though the PS3 may see a boost in Japan the 360 may see a slight boost in NA.

Yes we do.

We are discussing European sales.

Actually we are discussing Others sales.

I was talking about the people in this thread that were talking about how much of a boost the PS3 would need from Japan to top the 360 again this week. I feel they fail to realize Halo Wars may boost 360s NA numbers a bit higher than usual. I mean it supposedly sold 250,000 copies on day one.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

The arcade SKU has not replaced the pro SKU at retail, the 40gb ps3 did. That's because both ps3 sku's are basically equivalent, unlike the arcade and the pro.

That's what I meant, lol.

As for my opinion. 360 will outsell PS3 WW this week with Halo Wars bump, if there is one.

@Bitmap Frogs

My how confusing, time to look up some older threads. I thought the Arcade was pretty much the same thing as the Core.

The Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 in the week after Killzone 2 is released. I think it should now be apparent to all that the PS3 is a sinking ship and that no game will save it.
