Forums - Gaming - Why Sony is Surpassing Nintendo in Game Development?

Laughable. For instance, two Ninty games released same 2007 year, sharing common characters and two of three words in title, gameplay wise have more differences than pair of Sony's completely unrelated franchises like Resistance and Killzone between them.

//Sales, income, release shedule etc. go without saying.

What are you talking about?  There are no similarities between Resistance and Killzone.

Associated Content inst a news site, its one of those free "anyone can be a journalist" sites that promise to pay you 5 cents for every 10,000 views of your article. Generally full of biased opinions, so this article holds as much weight as any fanboy rant here at VG Chartz. Moving on.

Wich they got in loads, since Sony, Nintendo and MS fanboys rushed there to bash, agree and/or say it was wrong cus M$ cash is the best development team ever!

hmmm, you might be onto a viable side income there ;)

You bet! The only thing this System Wars has brough upon gamers, besides stupid, blind and deconstructive fanboyism, is a way to make easy money on the hate they feel for anything not prefered by them.

PS- I am calling dibs on the hole process, if someone didnt do that already that is..... (I think I lost a chance here...s***...)

Meh, those first-person shmups all look alike for me recently, overproduced genre. Those, made by Sony's studios, even more cliched than average shooter. Please, don't play dumb, that's a common opinion, and I agree with it ;)

and it's clear the author has now idea about game development by presenting those points

I would say the same.

Most Guitar Hero games have been better games than Wii series games.

So in the end your argument boils down to your opinion and nothing else?

I find it funny how you pretend it's a big deal that SMG/MP3/Zelda sell less than MK:Wii and Wii Fit.

Oh, it also boils down to established criteria check the Metacritic score for any Guitar Hero or Rock Band game versus the scores for Wii Fit, Wii Play, Wii Music, Wii Sports, or Mario Kart Wii.

Also, I'm not pretending that it is a big deal.  It is a big deal.  If you were a developer how much money would you invest in a new ip in a traditional genre on a system where it appears core games like No More Heroes don't sell all that well (on 360 NMH would have been well past 1 million now while it hasn't even past .39 million on the Wii) but where shovelware sells more than it ever has on any previous system?

You lost me at "established criteria" being in the same sentence as "Metacritic score".

Where's your proof that shovelware sells more on the Wii than any previous system? Surely you're not implying that the Wii series is shovelware?

Regarding NMH, you have no proof of your statement whatsoever. Not all good games sell 1 million on the 360 either, you know?

Yeah, I know a lot of you seemingly like to throw out all review scores that don't support your view that Wii Sports, etc, aren't the greatest games ever made; however, I suspect you folks wouldn't be endorsing them as highly as you do if they weren't the best selling games on the system.

The Wii series is all shovelware imo designed to get people that have little to no experience with gaming interested in the Wii.  But how can such people really know what makes a great game in comparison to the greatest games ever released?  And there is a reason why these games are all based on the typical events of life and that is because they are sure to appeal to the masses while works that require more imagination and thus should be considered superior works of art aren't guaranteed to attract people who want to indulge in more mundane activities.  Some of you people even go so far as to say Wii Sports is the greatest system seller ever; when Wii Sports is actually a worse system seller than Combat on the Atari 2600 and in no way comparable to SMB.  Super Mario Brothers was responsible for all of the NES' early sales while Wii Sports only achieves the sales it is credited with since it is in the Wii box.

No More Heroes would have done much better on 360 or PS3 than the Wii and that is a given.  And it isn't just poor sales for NMH look at any of the other great new core ip's on the Wii like Zack and Wiki or an established game like MP3 which still hasn't topped 2 million while a game like LBP on a system that doesn't even have half the Wii's userbase does.

If Madworld and / or The Conduit don't sell well while WSR does you will see even more party game and shovelware type programs released for the system instead and I do believe that will impact the Wii's sales worldwide as it already has in Japan.
