Good lord, our hobby used to be even more expensive? Before the N64 days? That's insane.

$50 is more expensive for a new game?  Sounds the same to me.

That was twenty years ago, though. How much is that in 2009 dollars?

We were talking about the NES era, not the SNES era.

Is this a joke about years

Are you playing a joke on the young guy is that what's going on here

YOUR TIME WILL COME, OLD MAN

@Rubang:

That is huge.

The SNES didn't exist twenty years ago.  It may have been a joke.

I remember SNES games being $50 and N64 games being $75. If you account for inflation, Wii games are actually cheaper than games used to be, and much cheaper than N64 games.

(US dollars)

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

Guys he talking about inflation of currency.Meaning what could 10 dollars buy you 10 years ago cannot buy you the same thing now.Example a new armani suit cost 40 dollars in 1960 now guess how much would that same suit cost now. $200, $300

I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

What's with some of these reviews though?

GamePro (90/100) points out that MadWorld is on "a kiddie console."

1Up (91/100) says that the Wii's "design constraints" forced Platinum Games to be creative, and that it paid off.

GamePro is just being idiots who can't get that snobcore wang out of their mouth long enough to type (even though they're giving the game a 90/100), but what's with what 1Up comment? Are they saying that the Wii is forcing people to be creative? Is this the first time one of these major reviewers has said something this smart? I agree and think that's awesome, but at the same time, a game could have been made with an art style this unique on any system capable of 3-D.

@Khuutra, also, the consoles were way more expensive when you take inflation into account. At launch, the NES, SNES, N64, and GC were all $200, so after inflation, they were actually lowering their price with every new system. Until now, with the overpriced POS Wii.

The NES "Control Deck" package cost $200 for 1 NES, 2 controllers, and SMB. $200 in 1985 is $401 today according to Wikipedia. I've seen a list of console launch prices of every generation adjusted for inflation, but I can't find any good pricing info on games. Either way, even if they were $40 in the 80's, that's $80 today. And I know some games cost more than $40 in the 80's, so that would be close to $100 today.

Our games are cheaper and longer, so when people complain about a game being only 5 hours, we really should beat 'em up.

Consider yourself lucky. For us canadians, SNES games were in the $90-$110 range. I remember getting Legend of the Mystical Ninja for right around $100 and Street Fighter 2 for $110.

On Topic: Went to a couple rental places, no go for madworld yet.

WAAAAUUUGGGHHHHH!

I haven't even bought Blob or Deadly Creatures yet, let alone finished No More Heroes.

@Misterd

Spend less time on forums talking about games and invest it into completion.

Good to see reviewers wittering about the 'kiddy' nature of the beloved Wii. It would be nice to see more reviews without these pointless digs about the machine. After all, it would be just accurate to call it a mature gamers console.

Saying that I do want the 20th to get here asap. Mad World looks really fun

Yes.

Yes. That's definitely much more offensive than having that avatar of yours.  You may have a point though.  $401 for a game system with two controllers and a game would be much more than a PS3 at it's release, now wouldn't it?  A Wii with 2 Wii Remotes, 2 Nunchucks, and say Super Mario Galaxy would be cheaper than that also, wouldn't it?  A new 360 with 2 controllers and Halo 3...  I know.  You want to beat me up now.  Right?

Are we going to pretend that Wii Sports doesn't exist and that a nunchuck is necessary to play any of the games except the worst one?

Are you are telling me that people buy the Wii for Wii Sports then?  Super Mario Galaxy would be more along the lines of Super Mario Bros.  I'm not saying that Wii Sports isn't a good game, but it's not an epic Mario game.  The Nunchuck is needed to play almost every single game on the system and you know that.  So.  Have you waited for eight hours straight for me to post here?  I'm out of here now so you can argue with yourself for eight more hours if you want.
